You should've had it shipped in an enclosed carrier if you didn't want it to get dirty.

Wouldn't have been worth the extra $400-$500. I'd expect a reasonable amount of dirt with open transport, but to the extent above? There are tens of rusted, corroded small metal flakes that I can only imagine dripped down from the car above mine due to rainy weather in the days leading up to delivery. These flakes have even lodged into the gap between the spoiler and trunk hood, so I'll have to carefully remove them at some point.

@GanthrithorI appreciate the video, I've read up on proper car-washing technique as well. Just didn't have the time (literally) to go out and buy materials, let alone wash the car, and I didn't want the dirt and grime to sit any longer.

Who did you buy from and what transport company made the delivery?

I worked for a ford dealership... I seen that and worse all the time.. If you guys think your car comes nice shiny new, them your mistaken.. That's why Audi, merc and others have a cover made for each car..

Ok I can't say all the time.. But the cars always came dirty, maybe a couple handfuls like his, and a handful worse.. We hated getting cars from the winter salt states..

Shirker, I think Heuberger used the same carrier for me as they did for you because I had the same exact issue. I caught the guy/driver spraying glass cleaner on the oil spots from the car above me and wiping it down with a dirty bath towel.

I would hope that you noted all damages before signing off on it. I contacted my sales person first then I contacted the carrier. If it's Diamond Express Trans , then speak directly to Joe Mcreary(sp?). He's the owner. I talked to him and so far he seems apologetic and willing to right any wrong out of pocket. Right now, they're in the process of getting my BRZ repaired as there were other damages done. I can only make factual comments at this time because, technically, they haven't gotten my car in any repair shop or given me any money yet. So we'll just have to wait and see if the owner holds up to his end of the bargain. Good luck with your situation and have those pictures ready to email.

Dismayed to see this post as I have my car arriving today/tomorrow from the same source.

I'll add to this thread if my car looks like that too. Hopefully not.

Mine was dirty too, but nowhere near that dirty. Cleaned up fine though, no issues. Took a picture of it still on the truck (Colorado Springs to San Diego):

Good I was afraid someone from the shipping company touched it and dragged dirt all over your fresh paint.

papar towel on paint is not exactly gentle (in fact, it will mar), either.

OP doesn't pay for enclosed trailer; complains about dirty car after 2000 miles of open transport. OP mad because dirty car is dirty.

If you want a perfect car on delivery, call Intercity Lines. I shipped mine with them from Boston to Colorado enclosed and they did an amazing job. I can almost guarantee your car will be an order of magnitude cheaper than the average value of the rest of the cars in the trailer. They're very used to taking amazing care of extremely valuable things.

I had no idea you could save money buying a car long-distance, especially after factoring in shipping. Very interesting.

For the sake of comparison, what price would your local dealer have charged for this car?

I love road trips. This gives me something to think about when I order mine...
