I can honestly say that I truly believe this car is faster with the stock cat back than it was with the Corsa very loud one. I am supercharged with the Jackson racing kit with a delicious tune, and even though the car was very loud compared to stock header, it felt very different, maybe not better just different. Now though, with the stock cat back, it is absolutely furious. Obviously the tune has become more optimal with ecu learning, but holy cow this car Just makes me giggle all the time now. I can perform second gear throttle induced slides at will at fairly low speeds. Plus I can hear the magical rushing flow of the header now. It is like an electric motor from 3000 rpm on now. It is seriously fast compared to stock and supercharged on the stock header. Plus, it is beautiful to look down in the front of the engine compartment and see that beautiful and very acute merge of the Type A. Also the two into one merge of the overpipe at the back right of the engine. Save your nickels lads, buy this header. You absolutely will not be unhappy, you will be a believer. It literally added 2000 more rpm of much improved pull to my already supercharged car.

My car with this header, JDL catted and resonated front pipe, and the Corsa cat back showed 118 decibels at 20 feet at about a 45 degree offset using an iphone6 app. I was truly concerned that I would hurt someone else's ears if they were next to me with a window down and I agressively got on the throttle. That is loud by anyone's definition. A magnaflow 22" straight through muffler replaced the Corsa resonator, but only helped a little bit. The stock cat back is nice and quiet, but has a wicked buzz at about 2000 RPMs.

I can't wait for the silent muffler to be finished... cuz then I can just floor it everywhere stealthily. This was verified for myself via datalogs of street driving; I step on the throttle a lot more with a quieter car, even for casual acceleration. Also, on a side note, drone/resonance is a build of of sound energy, which is NOT escaping out the rear tailpipe, and can indeed actually cause a power loss, even though the exhaust setup looks to be freer flowing. Ideally, you want smooth flow, not turbulant flow. Two-stroke engine take advantage of this resonance to actually scavenge more exhaust out of the engine, and the same basic theory is how the Ace header works. |

Mike: i've seen that psychologically working other way - with some catback or other bolton owner liking sound/extra noise more, hence spending more in lower gears/higher rpms/more flooring accelerator "just to listen that sound" & braking instead of steady economical cruising. Of course it's not backed by logging but by my speculation/guess on reasons, as to why some seen MPG drop after bolt-on upgrade & tune when those should actually be more efficient and rather rise it .

Just recently installed the type a 250 op and gotta say its fantastic.
I'm surprised is didn't get louder compared to my previous JDL el prototype. It sound very close to stock header until I punch it hard. Not I'm considering getting the ace FP to complete the exhaust but not sure how much louder would it get. Any ideas how much louder will it get with the ace fp? My current setup is ace type a 250 op and usdm TRD catback |

*UPDATE*
So I sold my Corsa catback to another forum member. I got a stupid good deal on Black Friday on an invidia q300 cat back. I was able to buy it with the proceeds from the sell of the Corsa and two other items I sold in the classified section. It sounds amazing, and coupled with my JDL ultra quiet front pipe, the ace typeA with 350 over pipe is quiet and fierce sounding. It sounds sooooooo good now. I am highly impressed with this exhaust system now. It doesn't have the hiss of a more restricted exhaust, the buzz of the stock catback, or the insane loudness of my Corsa catback. The q300 has a very deep rumble below 2000 rpm, and shrieks quietly above 5000 rpm. Sounds really really good. Kinda like the 350z exhaust note maybe. My wife loves it and that is very important to me. I love it too and that is also important to me. I am still anxiously awaiting the ace quiet catback, really liking the looks of it so far. For now though, I am in love with this header. It really is beautiful to see it when looking down in the engine bay in front of and to the rear passenger side of the engine. It really has woken up the midrange when coupled with the Jackson racing sc. |

Is there any sound clip of the header paired with a Perrin catback and catted FP?
