If you log FLCK on your OFT as well you will see it. If you get enough of either FLCK or FBCK (Knock correction) it will drop IAM, http://datazap.me/u/toy-sooby/casual...zoom=3093-3806 and again here http://datazap.me/u/toy-sooby/casual...zoom=4979-5134 It back to run better fuel (United 100 octane)or pull a bit more timing in problem areas both times it was arround 2500rpm load 0.8 so if you pull a bit of timing 2400-2600 load 0.7 0.8 0.9 should sort it. but log FLCK first so its easier to gauge the amount of correction and pull maybe half what the ecu is pulling. |

OFT is logging FLCK now but the scaling is a bit suspect on G rom anyway

It seems very excessive the amount of timing I have had pulled from these regions yet I am still getting knock...

On 98 RON if you drive in a high gear and get on the throttle its just going to knock a bit in that area. And if your on/off the throttle a few times it will drop your IAM. All you seem to be able to do is reduce it. It does this like crazy on the stock tune as well. If you change your driving style a bit ie knock it back a gear before you get aggressively on the throttle at low rpm , or just get on the throttle less aggressively at low rpm in a high gear I've pretty well given up on 98 and just run United 100 RON all the time its much better all over. Yep looks like your flck logging not working, have you got ofm 1.07.1 and updated oft then applied latest template file ?? Last edited by steve99; 05-09-2014 at 10:25 PM. |

I'm curious to know....will switching to a better grade/quality fuel (i.e. going from Shell 98RON to United 100) without any further tuning simply reduces knock occurring, but doesn't necessarily add any more power?
I'm half tempted to switch to United 100 but there aren't any United stations in my area. The Shell is literally down the road....and I generally fill up there for convenience sake. By the way I'm currently getting e-tuning (almost completed) done by @jamesm and I can say that the car feels so much better now compared to the OTS Stg1 that I was using. I would highly recommend his services to anyone thinking about getting a custom tune, especially for us living down under because our fuel quality is quite different to what our friends get overseas. |

If you were tuned for no knock and iam always 1 then I believe their would be no advantage unless you then advanced timing to take advantage of the better fuel. +1 on @jamesm |

@steve99 first and foremost, thanks for the sharing the considerable information in this thread and making the modified file available to us.
I've recently received my OFT and plan to start logging what's happening on my OEM tune, and once I'm comfortable using it, start experimenting with other tunes. In my case I also have a Crawford BPB kit fitted but unfortunately there are no BPB tunes available yet from Shiv for G series ECUs. Any advice on any possible side effects of using the Stage 1 OFT or your tune with the BPB on 98RON? Anyone else in Oz with BPB and advice on OFT tuning options? |

As BPB tunes are only out for C rom at present if your keen you could compare C rom stage 1 and C rom stage 1 BPB and see what changes were made and copy to g rom. Or just wait a couple more weeks and they will probably be a G rom tune for BPB |

I am receiving knock events up to -2.4 @ 2700rpms/0.5 load but I have already reduced timing to the vicinity of -1.76 in those areas. Should I continue to reduce these cells by even more? Does reducing timing in the vicinity of these values sacrifice alot of power? Cheers for the help. |

If you have a look at you LTFT its running at over -7% when your in closed loop ie cruise mode so when you jump on the throttle it going to pull 7% off the fuel target and make you run lean when your in open loop mode (agressive throttle movements) so I suspect this running 7% lean is not helping your tip in knock issues. So it looks like you will benefit from scaling your MAF sensor to get your closed loop fuel trims back down to less than hopefully 2% this will make you hit the correct fueling targets when you open the throttle I posted up the info here and @vgi has a very useful utility that linked in the post On 98 RON or even 100 ron your not going to eliminate tip in knock completly but you should be able to do better than you doing see here for maf scaling http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64790 |

Thanks for your response Steve. Do you believe that a leak in the overpipe connection to header will cause the LTFT to be around that range? Last time I eliminated the possibility of a leak on the header to engine side by installing the Grimmspeed header gasket so I'm pretty sure that shouldn't be leaking... Otherwise typically do stock cars have fluctuations similar to what I am experiencing with the idea that there are no exhaust leaks? Thanks. |

Its also possible its a leak although i would expect it t be worse if it was a leak near 02 sensos Aftermarket intakes will throw off maf scaling as well |

Are there any problems using a 02 Spacer in the secondary of the header?
