An entry level FR revival?

So now we will have some real options in the entry level FR market with the FRS/BRZ and the revamped Genesis Coupe and Miata.

Could this cause Nissan to get in on the action? I know this is old news now but Nissan's Power 88 plan (link below) makes me dream of a new Silvia.

What are your thoughts?

I just heard about this myself. i am a die hard toyota fan boy for sure but if they introduce somthing that keeps its silvia roots this could be some major compitition for the FR-S/FT-86/BRZ

now that i did that i'm reminded of the Eclipse/Talon/Laser lulz.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Silvia successor. Hope Nissan will join the driver's car fight.

I'm expecting Nissan will come out with a model that will below 370z level and compete with the FT-86. Silvia S16? Something I hope that will cause excitement like the FT-86 at least.

Anyone know of any other car makers bringing similar FT86 concepts to TMS?

Maybe they could use an engine from the MR family. The 1.6L MR16DDT in the Nissan Juke makes 188 hp and 177 ft-lb. Apply the direct injection and turbo to either the 1.8L or 2.0L variant and it could be a great engine choice for the new Silvia.

These cars are getting to the low $30k's in the US, and higher elsewhere, I wouldn't really call that entry level, but at least it's attainable for many. Competition's a good thing, if there's a popular market. I'd like to see the big 3 (are they still big?) get back into it with Vega, Maverick, and Dart.

With the yen getting stronger every day, I don't think Nissan will ever think of s16. Even if they did when we will see it? +2015 and it will cost more than $28k for base model at that time!

It's too late for them

There are a few scenarios that could steal thunder from the FT86 at TMS.

Mazda releases a RX7/RX9 concept car.
Nissan releases a Silvia inspired concept car
Mitsubishi releases a FTO inspired concept car for global market
Mitsubishi releases a GTO/3000GT concept car

its doubtful any of those will happen...but surprises have happened within the industry.
