Installing Nameless catback and JDL Frontpipe help (Spring Bolts wont budge)
So I installed a 3'' Nameless Catback and JDL Front/over pipe and everything went fine. I was at the end of everything trying to connect the mid pipe and front pipe but the amount of force I needed to push the spring bolts seem impossible. I am not sure if it has to do with my string bolts or if these parts are incompatible, especially since the mid pipe end has a flared cone, but I have been scratching my head trying to figure it out. Also, this is my first time doing all of this so I could be completely wrong. If anyone has any idea how to fix this that won't be great.
Edit: I just realized they give you Nuts and bolts you are supposed to use. Does anyone which bolts are these so I can buy them locally? Last edited by j9440044; 09-04-2022 at 05:31 PM. |

Hello and welcome to the forums!
Was every other nut and bolt in the system done up tight by this point? Generally its best to do things finger tight until everything is connected and then after that work from the more solidly mounted end (the motor) through to the exhaust tips tightening things up as much as you feel necessary. Doing it this way allows some slop to help getting it together.

I had to abandon the OEM spring bolts when I swapped to a aftermarket 2.5" FP. The larger donut gakset makes it basically impossible to get the bolt started without clamping the springs for extra leverage.
A regular nut and bolt should be fine. spring bolts help keep tension on the nut so it doesn't back off. |

I had to clamp the springs with a vice before getting the first few threads on the nut on my JDL mid pipe... Not fun, but it all went together ok after getting the first few threads twisted on the nut.

IMHO the spring system is there to allow some flex and not to act as a lock for the nut. |

I actually use those woodworking pump clamps to told it together so ic an get the bolts on. I really need longer bolts but technically the spring has a little play.

This is pretty much what I did. Used a clamp to hold it in place so I can get it started.
