What do you do when someone tailgates you?

A question I ask a lot of my friends.
Some pull over (I've done that once)
My friend drives a xterra and turns her wipers on if they are going at high speeds
(works everytime)
Me... Either 1.box them in with other slower traffic
2. Simply slow down (sometimes 20mph) until they change lanes than I book it. (just to make it obvious I was messing with them)

I also heard of someone who would flick pennies out of his sunroof. (I hope he was lying)
Anyway - share some good stories.

I change lanes and let them pass. This world doesn't need any more drama.

Move over and let them pass. Unless douchebaggery, in which case I start my douchebaggery. But that's dumb, so don't do that. Less douchebaggery!

I'm worse. I'll slow down to a crawl and ridge ride which is to stay close to the shoulder. If LEO pulls me over for going too slow, I'm claiming blindness because it's true. I had to learn to drive blind at night due to all of those idiots who leave their high beams on or just following too close.

What I love most about early morning hours is there's next to no traffic and bright headlights ruin it for me.

I usually just completely turn around in the middle of the car and stare at the driver for a second or two. They generally give me more room then. If it's 2 lanes, I will get over and let them pass.

I used to be worse, when I was driving a car I didn't care so much about. The last thing I want is to get into a stupid accident because I was distracted by another driver on the road.

Haha I should try that! But yeah, the way I see it, I won't speed for you and I shouldn't have to change lanes.
My girlfriends tailgate. And yes, they rear end people. I fear for my life in their cars.

If there is space available next to you, yes you should change lanes. The road does not belong to you, share it!

If you are in the left land and not passing then you are in the wrong and need to pull over. If they are being a douchebag I will slow down or give them the finger. If they pass and go slower than me I ride their ass with high beams and waving the one finger salute. Never gotten into a fight, but close a few times. Yes, I know I have issues.

Yea, 1 good thing about not having tinted windows, you can give people the stare down.

I remember one time in my civic, some guy was tailgating me, so I let him in front of me, then started tailgating him. I ended up next to the guy right before my exit, so I just stared over at him and mouthed "asshole", so he could read my lips.

I stick in the lane that I need to be in and let them tail gate if I am in town. They will either move to the next lane or stay where they are. I am usually needing to make a turn or take a different lane up ahead so why sweat it if someone feels they need to get to the next red light before me? If I don't need to take a lane or turn then I'm in the right lane.

If I am on the freeway then there is no reason for me to be in a lane where someone feels the need to tailgate. I go to the fast lane if I need to pass, otherwise I am in the slow lane.

I don't tailgate either as I always like to keep room to stop in a semi-controlled manner if I need to. I find that I am rarely stuck in the fast lane on a freeway around here; because of above and because that 90% of the people will move right when they actually notice a vehicle coming up quick from behind that looks like it will actually speed right through their vehicle if they stay where they are.

Where I live there are signs, "keep right except to pass". Not changing lanes for someone, if a lane exists, is fucking stupid, arrogant and entitled. MOVE THE FUCK OVER.

If someone is being a douchebag and not giving me a chance to move over where its safe, then I'll be a douchebag back. But if they're being reasonable there's no reason to not move over. In fact you should have been there in the first place.

I know that's probably going to piss off intotheocean, but that has to be my biggest pet peace ever. It's disrespectful, dangerous and against the law, here at least. If you tried that in Greece you'd be shot and your car would be pushed off a cliff.

You are lucky you don't live in the NW. The drivers here are the worst, especially Washington state drivers. Sit in the passing lane and don't move over. Do that shit in the SW or Cali and you get shot.

See above.

Same thing applied when I lived in Washington.
