Car has sat for 48 hours with no problems. I should take voltage readings to see what the drop is between sittings... I'll do that tonight and let it sit tomorrow.

Not to pee in anyone's Wheaties here, but I was kinda hyped to get this device for my car, then I started reading the following thread:

http://forums.redflagdeals.com/merge...ad-1147913/24/

... as you can see, it goes for (currently) 74 pages. The executive summary is that it seems that the Blackvue has a fairly noticeable overheating problem, which appears to be exacerbated by leaving it in "park monitor" (or whatever it's called) mode, which is one of the big things I wanted to use it for to begin with.

Actually, I forgot that I went ahead and ordered the Power Magic power controller when I ordered the camera. That should be here today.

If I install the power controller to the same constant hot wire that you wired directly to the camera (Positive to the GRN/YEL, Ground to the BLK/YEL), I should be golden, right?

A problem with this device is that it's a clearly visible electronic device to outside bystanders.

I don't like leaving obviously expensive items in plain view inside of any of my cars, reason being to prevent a potential car prowl.

This would be better IMO if the camera was more hidden. Not sure if a concealable blackvue-type camera exists...

They do they are just of poor quality. The blackvue (from my observations of these cams) seems to be very stealthy. Most have large 3-4 piece suction cup clips to hold the camera. The Blackvue has a small round cup that 3m's to the windshield and then the camera locks in to the holster. If you are worried about theft you could remove the camera when parked, but honestly most people will think it is part of the mirror or possibly an anti-theft device.

I used STOP and DRL for Constant and Switched, and the fuse box mounting screw grounds just fine.

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind and verify with a multimeter.

I just ordered the blackvue and power magic pro, but mine is the "Session 2" version, which supposedly addresses the overheating problem.
