it looks like more panels were added to hide the real sheet metal. i hope the real hood and fenders are much lower.

switching topics, new rendering.

Leaving headroom for pedestrians being hit.

I am still hoping they change the placement of the side mirrors. For some odd reason, it just bothers me.

That sounds pretty decent under acceleration....
And I don't think we'll be seeing any more S2000-esque hoodlines going forward, with all the pedestrian safety regs.

im thinking it could just be the extra panels added for disguise. the Z4 spied with less camo doesn't look as bulky.

Looks like a tank convertible.

Car companies really need to start campaigns like Project SlimFast or something.

It baffles me that people still don't understand that this is a BMW GT car first and foremost. It'll be a miracle if it's under 3,400 lbs.

Agreed, the M4 is mid 3500s, so the Z4 can't be too far off. Even if it is smaller, the convertible junk will bring that weight up. I would love for the Supra to be light but I'm fully expecting 34xx...

*Z5

Edit: The old 4-banger Z4 was under 3,300 lbs fwiw so there's some hope, but no chance in hell it'll be even medium weight under 3,000 lbs. And it topped out over 3,500 lbs.

Oh I wasn't even thinking about weight, just the sheer size of the car's look in the pic. But it is a 5 series after all. Anything below 4000lbs would be great (I think a LC500 with CF roof is over that).

3000 lbs can be done. The bulkier Civic Type R weighs in at a touch over 3100 lbs. RWD will add a bit of weight but the Supra being higher priced can make more use of aluminium or extremely high-strength steel to keep the weight down and still come in at an acceptable build cost.

So you think BMW is going to build the lightest car it's built in 15 years?
