I tried to stop & swerve, but I was in the left hand lane anyways so there was no where I could go & she had waited to late to try and go.. I honestly don't know what she was thinking.

The op is going thru a stressful time right now and he has 100 things on his mind.

If she was west bound making a left turn she would be turning south.

also think about going to like therapy/doctor if you feel any other pain later on.. your body is still in a bit of shock from that hard impact and might feel other pain later..thank god your alive and didnt hit you on the driver side door..

i got git by a drunk driver and it was way worse then that.. got rear ended at a stop light waiting to make a right turn.. me and my ex gf got knocked out for a while from the whiplash impact..when i woke up something inside me told its a drunk driver and i was right.. we looked at the guy and he was passed out..we left him alone and didnt care if he was bleeding to death/dying.. most drunk drivers survive when they crash to others..

the civic rear trunk was flatten to the rear tires like a soda can from the oldsmobile delta thats like a tank heavy and no damage to it
if we got T-Boned instead of rear impact it would of been the end for us.. big wake up call in my life ever.. now when im at a stop light i always look at my rear mirro and see if anyone is hauling ass and looks like the car wont be stopping..

person might be talking on the phone you think? or just plain not paying attention on the road?

also a girl driving tc ran a red light when mine was clearly green..i always look on my left side when its my green light and i saw her like brain dead just staring at the road not paying attention..everything happen in like slow motion..she was like 3 cars behind the light and i knew she was not going to stop.. glad i looked to my left or else i would of got T-boned

No, she would be going north, just as the OP said.

You got me there. I was thinking west to east turning left instead of east to west.

LOL. Not bad for that being the first mistake you ever made.

OP:

Are there 2 or more lanes in each direction? Or were you in the only eastbound lane?

And your stock just rose in my book, too, young fellow.

Have a nice weekend, and stay safe.

This could prove to be long-term damage. Don't conclude too soon that this injury is minor. Hopefully it is.

You'll probably want x-rays, whatever.

The problem is that in the final seconds before impact, a person suddenly has "superhuman strength," and mashes the brake pedal with enormous force. I've known people to do this and they suffered serious, long-term injury to their foot/ankle.

People have been known to bend steering wheels into pretzels in the same or similar circumstances. When the adrenaline is squirting out your ears, moments before the final impact, it's amazing what sudden strength people have. This can result in more serious long-term injury than at first thought because of the extraordinary forces involved.

You want to be certain that you really are on the road to a full and complete recovery before signing off on anything for the other person's insurance.

Again, hopefully you're fine and just more upset than injured. Glad it wasn't worse; it could have been a lot worse.

Very true, it's still heartbreaking
Yes, of course.

See if you can get a new car.

I defiantly am, It could have been worse
Heh. That's a funny slip. You meant "definitely," of course.

I believe I was going about 40-45
Yeah, you hit hard. It's a good thing it was "only" a glancing blow.

I hope you make a quick, full and complete recovery.
