To be fair Thunder is a sound and Lightning is what would be "yellow"! Even then it's more blue/gray/white-ish in real life

I always wondered about the term being "thunder struck".

I'd have to check out the lyrics for that song again, but generally I think being thunderstruck works fine unless they have lightning written as part of the "thunderstruck" effect. I imagine the idea of it is you're deeply surprised/enlightened by the sudden thunder because of its natural, deafening sound.

Not just the song but the term in general. "I was thunderstruck by the fact they made a song called Thunderstruck". Although sound is pressure and can indeed "strike" you it always seemed an odd term to develop.
