I mean if you're going there. There isn't just one "tri-state area."

Well there is THE tri-state area and whatever other people make up. Sort of like people who say THE city and aren't referring to NYC...

Maine Hawaii and Alaska should form their own tristate alliance.

I think that is called triple point and refers to a STP point.

Gas, Solid, and liquid. All existing at one time at standard temperature and pressure

The density of the gas phase can vary, making it a line at that temperature in PvT space.

But I'm just bullshitting. Technically phases, not states.

It was called a triple point because there was only one point that all three phases could exist at one time. Change any one of the parameters and one of the phases will disappear.

triple point. The temperature and pressure at which a substance can exist in equilibrium in the liquid, solid, and gaseous states. The triple point of pure water is at 0.01C (273.16K, 32.01F) and 4.58 mm (611.2Pa) of mercury and is used to calibrate thermometers.

In physics and chemistry, the triple point of a substance is the temperature and pressure at which three phases (gas, liquid, and solid) of that substance may coexist in thermodynamic equilibrium
