break in period for transmission?
hey guys,
I got my transmission replaced due to a 4th gear grind issue covered under warranty and was wondering if there was a "break in period" for the new transmission? Im thankful it was replaced under warranty. the shifts are butter smooth now. any feedback would be appreciated. thanks |

My manual states that you need to make several hard stops from 60-5mph as a break in procedure and to bleed the fluid to remove any air pockets if the pedal seems soft.
Wait no, it says that the car comes equipped with a 12v power sou- shit, just realized I can't understand an index. Sorry OP, Did you check Google? |

Well now, rydollasign, as far as I know, there isn't a formal break in period for this MT. However, I would suggest you read over some of the suggested shifting procedures mentioned on this forum. Hint #1 - timing is everything - .
@Mr.ac - I don't see any reference to a transmission break in period (procedure) in my 2013 FR-S manual. Do you want to help me out here or are you just yanking on the OP's chain? - @DarkPira7e - I suggest you have at least 2 cups of coffee before posting - humfrz |

@humfrz it's a little of both really. But the actual brake in period is the same for a new car engine. Nice low revs till you hit 1k. Or what ever it is. Engine and tranny are grouped in, as so I read it to be.
So wasn't that easy? Also.....can I interest you on a new Civic Si, you don't have to worry about weak trannies, , Civic trannies are 90% bulletproof you know?

No need to be extra gentle but there is actually something to consider with a new MT. Unless the balk rings were pre-lapped by hand before final assembly, the syncros will continue to improve for several thousand miles before they grab well and the transmission really shifts the way it was designed. Mine didn't start shifting well until about eight thousand miles and kept improving through 15-17 thousand.

Well now, about that Civic Si. Does it come with crickets? How are the valve springs? It is a handsome vehicle, which I may consider, if they fuck up my FR-S by changing the valve springs - Do you have a blue one in stock? humfrz |
