Compatbility between 2013 and later engine models

Long story short, Toyota screwed me and denied my drive train warranty (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117530). Legal action still pending.

In the mean time, I'm looking to purchase a replacement engine on Ebay at 30k miles or less for my 27k chassis and found one in California.

I ordered this engine: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2015-Scion-...53.m2749.l2649

I was then told by the seller it won't work with my vehicle once I provided him with my VIN (beginning with JF1ZNAA...). My vehicle's VIN has a 6th digit "A" per the listing details. It is a 2013 6MT, and the engine on Ebay is a 2015 6MT.

Does anyone know why this engine wouldn't fit my vehicle, or why the seller states in won't fit even when my model year and vehicle is specifically listed as compatible within the Ebay listing?

Thank you.

@jamison884 Engine should fit in with no problem. The issue that it might not work might be due to the difference in ecu, engine wire harness, and slight changes to the engine itself between the 13 model and the 15 model iirc

Edit: Here's the thread that was talking about the 15-16 swaps into 13-14's http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121601

Thanks so much Bach.

I did perform a search before posting, but as you can imagine, it's a bit specific so I didn't see this on my search.

I'll do some additional research and then try to convince the Ebay seller to let me buy it.

I don't blame the ebay seller for trying to protect himself.

However, in this case, the engine can be dropped in and made to work without issue. I've seen that exactly year of swap done first hand.
