It's funny I too looked at the Solstice back when it was being made and the driving position drove me nuts. I couldn't figure out where the corners of the car were. The BRZ on the other hand fits like a glove and I know exactly the dimensions from within. It really is a great design.
A damn shame that the Solstice couldn't have been better. |

Your input is negligible (unimportant) since you cannot even spell the vehicle you mention correctly.

The domestics did that to themselves, for sure - no smoke without fire. But there really isn't such a thing as a 'bad' car these days. Like any mass-produced product, there will be variation and some will be worse than others. And the Asian brands will have the least amount of that. But in terms of design and performance, everything made today will be reliable transportation. It's really a matter of taste and, as I said above, value proposition. When I bought my Corvette this summer I also strongly considered a Boxster S. They were almost identical in price; the Porsche is made of nicer stuff, and the Corvette kills in terms of raw performance. But I think over time the Porsche will be more expensive to maintain and insure, and in this particular case will have a lower residual. |

Yeah, that's a great example. It was supposed to compete with the Miata, but it was almost as big and heavy as a Corvette. Like driving a dump truck compared to the Mazda.
If they'd kept making it, they'd have probably got it right - a year or two before killing it (see Fiero, et al). |

if it was possible for 2 american companies to somehow come together create a 200hp N/A FR sports coupe with a boxer motor and nearly perfect balance, then yes.
But thats impossible. However, if Ford decided to make a small ecoboost turbo 4cyl FR sports coupe with very similar specs (similar suspension geo, similar weight ratios, similar suspension tuning, similar CoG) then Id definitely try it out. |

Having the balls to do it is another thing altogether. Didn't need to be a flat engine, either. The reason it has one is because that's what Subaru makes. Remember, the only car Car and Driver has tested with a lower center of gravity is the ZR1 - no boxer there. |

The idea of this car is the reason why i prefer japanese cars over american. Sure, american cars came long way, but they will never have cars like this simply because their philosophy of "sports" cars are different from japanese or even european. Im sure in near future they will have something similar. Only car i can think of from factory that shares similar philosophy will probably be a shelby cobra or gt (but those are all exotic car)

the ZR1 is practically an exotic though. No other american manf has the technology to put a drivetrain like that into a normal/practical car and make it as affordable as the BRZ/FRS.

If the car was an American car; it simply cannot be a FT86 or have the traits of one... Period.
So my answer is a big no... As simple as that.
