Full bolt on or STX setup quartermile time?

i tried using the search button on this but seemed to only come up with turbo/supercharged cars or maybe tune only etc. I realize these arent really quartermile cars without FI, but was curious if anyone hit even high 13s with bolt ons /tune only no FI and no Flex fuel and without gutting the car? This just happen to come up in a discussion with a fellow 86 owner and i said no way,and he said yeah i think someone did, but then i thought maybe someone could have done it with a perfect setup, cool temps, low altitude etc. and good driver. I would gestimate 14.2 at best maybe....just trying to settle an argument LOL

I think this is what your friend was referring to. 13.9@99 mph.

That's the only one I've seen though without e85.

I managed a 14.5 on full weight car with 200tw tires, just a tune and completely stock otherwise on 93 octane. As soon as you get half way through second gear you realize that this car is not meant for drag racing.

Looks like that is on a drag radial.

yeah i bet but thats pretty good! Yeah drag radials make a difference, back awhile ago i had a supercharged cobalt ss with a couple mods, it was solid 13.60s with drag radials and barely could break 14 flat without them, first gear was horrific on that car, would just fry the stock tires

re q mile time

Here is another i just found...

(A EL header will hands down make more power than a UEL header. BUT if you got to have that subie rumble UEL is the way to go.
I took a N/A FRS to 13.47 1/4 mile at 3000lbs. the only way to do that is 200+hp)

it was from a header thread...

its not to difficult to put on a 50-shot wet nitrous set up for the odd 1/4 mile run if you want to get into mid-low 13's. I know these cars aren't drag queens but for the cost and weight of it you really are sacrificing much of anything.

re drag racing

Sorry i really was just curious, i really don't plan on doing any drag racing just some autox and road track etc. , it was just a question that came up when i was talking with someone, i was just happy to hear the potential of 13s in the quarter with this car.
