All Camaros Built Since 2010
GM issued a recall for ALL Camaros built since since 2010 for the ignition switch. Seems that you can bump it with your knee and shut the engine off, leading to a possible accident. This is 511,000+ vehicles.

I heard of this issue, but it really pertains to the fools who hang every key they own on their car keys. Before you hit the key (which never happened to me), you will hit the steering wheel and column.

The recall is for the key itself, not the ignition switch. And yeah, like Renegade said, you have to drive with your knees all the way up by the key for this to be a problem. I had a Gen5 Camaro for two years and never had my knees anywhere close to where they could "bump the key, making it turn out of the run position."
Their proposed solution is idiotic if you ask me. It takes the stock key, and now instead of a switchblade keyfob, you have a standard key and a separate fob. That's a step backwards if you ask me. My wife will not be changing her key on her Camaro. She agrees it's stupid. GM is trying too hard to cover their asses. |

Should've never bailed them out anyway.

Yeah... Not good, the total amount of recalls from GM lately are insane, so this isn't going to help that at all.

Looks like a pretty silly 'we're just going to cover our ass even though it's a minor issue' thing to me.
http://jalopnik.com/this-is-how-hard...n-i-1590538077 I bet I could turn my FRS off with my knee if I tried hard enough, no hitting, just push it around with your kneecap. Edit: Please click on the link above, this is totally unrelated to the death switch that GM flipped out about over the past few weeks, that switch problem was solved in 2007. Also don't try to pull that "It would've hurt the US economy" crap either. An 80 billion dollar bailout is what hurts the economy. Even now GM continues to make garbage and hasn't learned from their flaws and mistakes. If you're unwilling to adapt to the market you deserve to be put out of business. Ford realized their issues and addressed them. Now they are doing quite well. |

During that same time Toyota has had 4. Ford and Nissan also had quite a few, but I was too lazy to count them. All of them have some serious (and like this one for GM) some not so serious. (@MokSpeed comment ^above^ made me have to go back and count, Ford had 10, including 3 this week) Some of the recalls Ford and GM actually share because they are on 3rd party equipment like handicap lifts and other conversion activities. What I have noticed is they seem to come in batches for all manufacturers, so maybe there is some procedural thing that causes them to be lumped together. Just an observation, not sure where I was really going with this....

Simmer down kids. Toyota had recalls in the millions also resulting in deaths.

I had an integra with similar issues. The previous owner failed to mention it to me. Found out the hard way on base, when I almost careened into the MPX.
