BTW, here are the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for a 95 tercel, the fastest for any tercel...

1. Agreed with @Jaden that @moparbrian's story is a fish tale. Auto 86's run about 7 seconds to 60. The '97 Toyota Tercel Redhawk reviewed below would run to 60 in about 9 seconds. Certainly the 1/4 mi. is a different but there is no place or way that the above could happen unless @moparbrian feel asleep for 5 seconds, has a problem with his car, or the Tercel was heavily modified.

97 Toyota Tercel Redhawk 5MT
Engine: 1.5 liter, 4-cylinder, twin-cam, 16 valve engine, 93 horsepower, 100 ft pds of torque at 4,400rpm
Curb weight: 2,010 lbs.
http://www.theautochannel.com/vehicl...oni070497.html

0-60 should come up in about 9.0 seconds
http://www.060calculator.com/#mode=0...mission=manual
2. Anyone drag racing with an 86 in stock form is asking for disappointment and clearly bought the wrong car. Sell it immediately!

My guess is, he had snow mode on and started in second gear.

I can smell the bullshit from here, no way the tercel is "faster", in manual mode with traction control off from a dig maybe for half a second it will lead but then it'll get slammed.

I just remembered Subaru stopped making 2 door coupes after the GC8 until the BRZ, and it also marks the return of the frameless side windows so I'm super satisfied!

After two weeks of ownership 9/10

I think it would be a 10 if I was modding it. But, I do not plan too. My only grip is the head unit seems abit buggy. It takes awhile for the unit to hook to my phone and also it somestimes unpairs it...but the phone is listed in the connection settings.

Same here. Very happy with the car so far (and also two weeks of ownership). But the factory head unit doesn't work well with my Android phone. The thing stops playing and I have to repair the thing constantly. Aggravating. Might get a better unit eventually.

I've owned the car for a little over 2 years. It's still stock. Modified, I'm sure it's even better, but I'm still amazed by how well balanced this car is from the factory.

The seating position, interior layout, gear box, handling, etc. come together in a special way that makes it a joy to drive down the street or 5 hours away.

It's not fast, and it doesn't sound great, but I love it more every time I drive it. I plan on keeping it forever if I can.

i'm leasing mine and approaching the 2nd year out of 3 and i also find it amazing how it handles through turns...you can just steer the car with the throttle
i would take it out for a joy ride (close to 100 miles) almost everyday of the week but then realized i was racking up the mileage way too fast lol so now i have to hold back alittle on taking it out for a spin

I would probably go with a BRZ after contemplating on owning this car and then definitely changing the tires out for something with more grip.
