Tired of articles and people saying that it needs more power. That would have pushed the price up and defeated the point of the car. The power is fine at this price point. Although Toyota did miss a trick by not introducing a mainstream TRD model for those who want it.

R75K
and that excludes the exhaust for R9K that they're offering which you have to take with all that extra power, else you gonna choke the engine.

That's about $7900 USD.
Yes, it's ridiculous. He's taking advantage of the fact that we don't get all the goodies here in SA. If you want anything for the 86, you have to import it yourself.

I agree - R75K + R9K is way over the top.

R364 000 is in a different price range and get u a different car. Besides, RGM’s price of R75000 is just the start. The R9950 for the Techniflow exhaust is compulsory to exploit this upgrade, so now the price is R373950.

You will need to upgrade your wheels and rims to take the new speed and I’m sure the brakes will be too small. And then stiffen the chassis. What an idiot

I reckon that u are looking at around R480 000 if Toyota / Subaru wanted to make a TRD / STI version. Now we are at ½ BAR. Please, u can’t even use the 147 KWatts on the road now with all the speed traps. It’s plenty good enough for me.

These cars weren't built for outright speed and grip - they were built to be good old usable fun. They are missing the point. Everybody at my office doesn't notice the GTI or ST anymore... But the 86 turns their heads and the bulk reckon it is the fastest!

I think Wheels24 are missing the point. RGM also hasn't mentioned suspension and brake upgrades or wheels and tyres. I wouldn't be confident with that much more power on the stock tyres...

Clare Vale took delivery of a white BRZ yesterday and has been raving about it since. I think that is proof enough that power isn't everything.

For those who don't know her - she used to race a Wesbank V8 and is now taking part in the drift series, also in a V8.

Got a mainstream TRD model here! And now also have the TR86 race car version too.

We're lucky in that we now have available in order of price:
RC86 (stripped out version for upgrading yourself)
86
GT86
TRD86
TR86 (race car with roll cage for one design race series)

None of these models have any significant power increases though. No turbo or supercharger.

For me , this was a Bullsht article - they promote their expensive kit by constantly ripping into the stock car. Uncalled for. And it looks like News 24 simply printed their press release.
