Also noted a large number of Subaru dealers in very small one camel towns.. seems to be a popular brand but only seen a handful of GT86s and loads of Legacy taxis.
That's one hell of a trip hazard. Did you shed any blood?

No shedding of blood on the pavements of Oman.. spotted it just in time... Anyone running to cross the road would come a cropper!

If that was in a plant in the US or Canada OSHA would be issue large fines until it was fixed. Out in public is fine though.

If it was San Jose there would be a large homeless encampment across the street.

The company I work for just handed out jump ropes with the company logo on them to all employees to promote a global wellness initiative. While the jump rope is cheap and I'll never use it, it does make me happy to think that this conversation likely happened.

"Hello, I understand you sell jump ropes?"
"Why yes, we do!"
"Good. I need 17,000 of them."
".... wha?"

Are you planning on learning to speak Japanese before the trip? At least enough to get by?

Also people in S2000s are pansies. I got behind one on Palomares today, and he absolutely refused to push into anything serious. Like 6/10ths kinda stuff was all he had.

WTF are you eating that you got the runs three times?

Maybe it was the S2K's first time on Palomares?

Choice phrases probably, but not conversational level.

From what I'm hearing, most major cities are navigable without knowing much Japanese (sure someone here can vouch for that).

It's possible there'll be some language barriers at times but I'm not too worried.

Interesting. Last week I had some time off mid-week and drove highway 9, skyline, 84, etc.

On the way back down to Saratoga on highway I got to chase an S2k, and tbh I was prooobably going a bit harder than usual even, and while I could somewhat keep up with him, he was gaining on me every so often.

Was interesting because he was a gray haired older-looking guy. Not that that's a bad thing, just interesting that he was driving just as hard apparently.

Why would that be "interesting"?
Serious question. Driving hard is reserved for the young?

What would be interesting is "he had no arms and steered with his feet."
