Rumor floating around is that the midengine has been pushed back 6 months because of an issue with the wiring harness (isn't robust enough).

Typical GM gremlins. I heard that modern Cadillacs are an electronic nightmare.

On a side note, I hear they're gonna fire about 5500 more white collared jobs in January. Hope the LT6 and LT7 projects won't be sacked during the process!
From my time there, I could assure that they learned nothing from the 2008 crash or the 2011 ignition recall! Take it as a gentle warning: stay away from all turbocharged GM engines. Naturally aspirated V8s are the only safe bet.
Update: I guess I was wrong about NA V8s too! Just learned about the AFM lawsuits.

Sadly, my take-away from all this is that actual engineering analysis continues to take a back seat to the old try-and-fail approach. Always disappointing to hear.

A top of the line, mid engine, 800hp model... seems fair to me. If you or anyone thinks that is the new entry level model and price then they are smoking.

Further down the thread there is a lot of contrarians to that including links to the press schedule that seem to show the only expected announcement from GM is Cadillac. I would definitely think this would not be a "stealth" surprise announcement, but you never know.

As far as the price, that would seem to be for either the top of the line halo car in the lineup, or it means that GM intends to keep the C7 around for a while. I don't see them giving up the $60K - $150K market leadership.

We reached out to Chevy regarding this rumor and a spokesperson told us, "Chevy will not be making any reveals at Detroit this year.”

One of the mid engine variants (can't recall if it was the LT6 or LT7) is being benchmarked against Ferrari 488. So there is no way they'll offer it in 5 figures.
