Yup. Usually through engine management tuning to dump extra fuel into the cylinders. It can be a lot more complex than that as well. It is illegal and, depending upon state (for US residents, can't speak on Canada), a vehicle can be anywhere from ticketed to impounded for doing so.

While I'm not a fan of the practice, I tend to keep my mouth shut on it. The same rules apply to just about everyone running a catless header or forced induction (without a specifically approved tune for FI).

Wow, who pissed in your cheerios? I've got no problems with you personally, and I'm not intentionally misstating anything.

You said you "blame" environmentalists (at least in part) for the fact that people drive brodozers and roll coal. You even laid out what you thought their thought process was. I disagree that the environmentalists are to blame in any way. That's what I wanna talk about. If you want to call that "trolling for an argument" instead of "wanting an actual discussion" that's your prerogative I guess.

Thanks for your reply. And just to clarify, they use diesel fuel, these coalsomething trucks?

Mainly just plain old soot. Not very respirable either since the particles are large enough for the body to keep out. Not acceptable by any means but running no cats on our cars is just as bad even though it is invisible.

Precisely why I was looking at catted headers. Driving behind an uncatted car is thoroughly unpleasant and I can't imagine doing that to hundreds of people a day. I heard that diesel fumes are much more toxic so if they're producing more of them on purpose, that's highly unethical. Then again using "ethics" in the same sentence as "lifted truck" is kind of an oxymoron.

I'm confused why people concern themselves with the way others spend their money.

It's a hobby. Like knitting, some people just need to pass judgement on others decisions to justify their own.

Now about your wheel choice...

I'm not and I don't think many others actually care about that either. My only concerns are when the truck dudes crap all over me for shits and giggles. No doubt there is a thread on a lifted truck forum that is the complete reverse of this one and we are the evil douches.

Rule 1 of being cool/get noticed/break necks.

If your doing something to try and be cool/ect/ect, you automatically aren't.
