Cleaning Bugs
I do a ton of highway driving and accumulate a lot of bugs on my bumper, headlights, mirrors etc. and I was wondering what materials/techniques you all use to get rid of them. I don't want to get to aggressive with scrubbing with my wash mitt in fear of scratching the surface but I was thinking of getting a strong cleaner like simple green but I know that has it's downsides too.
Any tips/suggestions? |

If you use any harsh chemicals like bug and tar remover, make sure its done in a shaded area. Wax the area afterwards because they make the paint REALLY DRY. I normally just wash the area, since the shampoo (DP Auto Bath Shampoo) I use already comes with some sort of conditioner.

I use the Pinnacle bug scrub sponge and Poorboys Bug Squash; purchased from AutoGeek and it works great. We have love bugs down in here which will eat through your clearcoat if left on for a few days, and they will absolutely cover your car (see picture of my old CTS-V below)
After I do an initial wash; whatever is left on the front end, I've got a separate "bug bucket" with this sponge and diluted solution of this cleaner. |

Spray optimum power clean on front end, let sit 30-45 seconds and wash car like normal. Spray wax with optimum car wax after to renew the protection. Simple, fast and cheap.

if they are really stubborn, you'd need something like stoner's tarminator either way you should reapply some type of protection after (wax / sealant). Any all purpose cleaner or tar remover will strip off any protection on the paint |
