Anyone who works at Subaru, GL-3 Gear Oil?

Has Subaru given its dealers any information on part number to order this special MG gear oil? Part number?

Thanks for reading, lol.

I got no clue. I don't have access to the part system numbers. Maybe try calling/emailing a parts dept at a dealer?

GIS popped up this - http://jaytec-lubricants.com/index.p...&cPath=1_10_39

and this Manual Transmission Oil: 2.3 qt; “MG Gear Oil special II”; API GL-3 and SAE 75W-90

I've called both of my local dealers, neither of them could help, though they put about zero effort into it at all.

:\

I think that you'll have better luck going to your local Scion dealer and getting it there. It was a lot easier for me to order TPMS Sensor Nuts from my local Scion store than my Subaru store.

I don't generally like Redline lubricants, but they make the perfect product for this application, MT-90.

Waiting for someone to try the Redline MT90. It looks to be a perfect application.

I don't get it brother?

Why don't you just use -
Category: Gear Oil.
Product Name: TOYOTA MG GEAR OIL SPECIAL-II GL-3 75W-90.
Part No: 08885-01513
API: GL-3
SAE: 75W-90
Volume: 20L

What is it that your looking for? Isn't it a Toyota Tranny? Wouldn't it be better to use your own materials?

That part number is not available in North America. It's the only part number I can find for the stuff, but it is only available overseas. I have contacted Toyota about a part number for the gear oil here, preferably in 1L quantities, but they haven't gotten back to me with any solid information yet.

I wanted to know if this was something that was available from Subaru, and if so, I'd order it from them while I wait to hear from Toyota.

I have considered Redline MT-90, but this is actually for a warranty repair, and I want to be able to use the GL-3. While I know GL-4 is a good alternative in most cases, I am not willing to blindly make that call for a customer, you know? I'd prefer to use the MG Gear Oil special II.

tldr; Toyota doesn't list the stuff in North America yet, I have the 20L part number but it isn't loaded here. I wanted to know if Subaru had something yet because Toyota doesn't.

Toyota/Subaru even list in the manual that you can use the MG stuff or equivalent (though finding a GL-3 is tough because it is technically an inactive spec from API), afterward they have this nice box:

Using a manual transmission gear oil other than “TOYOTA Genuine MG Gear Oil special II” may cause
occurrences of rattling noises while idling and poor fuel consumption.
This coupled with the fact that it's a warranty thing makes me want to find the MG Gear Oil even more.

My last car, a BMW E36 M3 had some gear noise at idle after installing a lightweight flywheel. The noise was not really a problem as it was not loud, and you could silence it by pushing in the clutch. I really doubt that installing Redline MT-90 would cause any more noise from the transmission. I would like to change my transmission oil soon, and I will consider Redline MT-90. I am also considering this from Amsoil:

Amsoil listed the GL-3 and they carry a full synthetic replacement. Rear diff. is GL-5. They reccomend two differant fluids. So dont buy enough of one to do both.
