Any stronger aftermarket pressure plate will put extra loads on the crank bearings.

One thing we can do to help lower any possible crank walking is to use the clutch as little as possible, namely, don't sit at stop lights, in-gear, with the clutch pushed in for extended periods.

I have a feeling that a lot of the issues people are having with trouble getting into 1st are mainly due to the clutch adjustment.

I think the dimensions might be slightly different, and when the ACT clutch is installed, it needs to be adjusted to engage further from the floor.

Mine is new, and my shop installed it, but didn't adjust anything, and the clutch began grabbing juuust off the floor. One hair lower and it would have shown the same signs of hard engaging gears.

My clutch was adjusted today, and it now engages normally.

I installed mine today and have 2 issues. The clutch seems to be engaging at the very end of the stroke. Same characteristics as @mike the snake. Looks like an adjustment is needed. Also, when idling, if the clutch is engaged everything is fine. But if I'm in neutral and take my foot off the clutch there is a rattleing noise. I'll have to check on it to see if there as anything I installed incorrectly. Pretty sure I didn't but there's always that chance.

A lot of aftermarket clutches will chatter when in neutral. Do a search, you'll find many reports of noise. It's fairly normal.

I've read about the chatter before. This one just seems excessive although I've never heard the chatter personally so maybe it is the norm. I wasn't asking for anyone to diagnose my problem just giving my feedback on the ACT clutch. Thank you though for trying to help. I still plan on checking it out. I'd rather double check and it be the normal chatter than not check and it be something else.

Normal, although mine only did it with the A/C on.

Wasn't it in this thread people had spoken about having trouble getting into gears after their ACT clutch warmed up??

I've been having a little bit of problems with it when warmed up, and I'm fearing its the TOB.....

Mine was close to not fully disengaging, but I adjusted the clutch tighter and it works perfectly now.

I've had TOB's go bad, usually, they die quickly once they start to go.

Any noise or grumbling when you push the clutch pedal?

Yes, I'm getting the creaking noise with the pedal

Whatever you do, don't preload the clutch pedal. There's a bypass valve built into the master cylinder that releases pedal pressure. If you adjust too much and there's no freeplay in the pedal you will get "pedal pump up" which is where it doesn't allow the pressure to subside, resulting in a clutch that's basically halfway depressed ALL THE TIME.

The way to check is to make sure the slave cylinder can be depressed when your clutch pedal is at resting state.

And this happens when you adjust the clutch to grab really low correct?
