Yes, they are pretty fat. They are oval shaped (width: 40 mm; height: 20 mm).

I want to have an aluminum crossbar (L-profile) welded on those (the flat part can be welded onto those oval bars.)
(I'm getting KW competition coil overs and KW meanwhile told me that they'll install springs with a spring rate of 120 N/mm (12 kg/mm). I asked whether any softer would also be an option but they advised against it (racing slicks).
Because of it I think the chassis needs to be reinforced, but I don't want to add too much weight.)

Velox makes one for both sides, I don't know exactly how much lighter it is, but they claim to save over a pound with their driver side one: http://www.velox-motorsports.com/#!p...f-8a9b1e2f06b8

I weighted my SPL Parts and JRZ stuff

JRZ 12-32 front strut with quick disconnect and camber plate 7.3kg (I had to use a regular scale for humans, because too heavy)

JRZ 12-32 rear with quick disconnect 4.629kg

SPL Parts rear toe arm with lockout 0.834kg

SPL Parts rear traction arm 0.938kg

SPL Parts tie road end 0.507kg

SPL Parts rear LCA 1.643g

One of the best threads in these boards! Great info and a lot of hard work.

I am def gonna join the add lightness wagon when I get my GT86.
In my Miata I have managed to shave off almost 100 lbs of weight while keeping all of its safety features and most of its comfort ones. Its a DD of course.

I have read many controversial posts regarding CF products for the 86 platform. So far, I have read that hood (aluminum) is not worth the hassle or the money, and the same applies for the fenders and possibly for the trunk. From whats it is posted in here, the savings are not substantial to justify the expense.

How about the roof and the doors?

CF doors 10.05 lbs http://seiboncarbon.com/store/produc...-use-only.html

CF roof 6.83 lbs http://seiboncarbon.com/store/produc...te-finish.html

I know its a ton of money but I am thinking that if and maybe the weight difference for the roof is substantial, it may worth a shot as it will give the added benefit of further lowering the already low CofG...

Most parts from Seibon are heavier than stock.
Custom door cards looks like a better option.

I see although I haven't found how much a door weigh.
How about the roof? Stock must be a lot heavier than 6-7 lbs though...

Dunno, I think I have seen somewhere that the seibon roof is heavier than stock too.

A fog light delete would only save 60 g on each side (120 g total). (They don't sell this car without fog lights here, so I thought this could be a potential savings. Unfortunately, it's not as much as I was hoping).

http://www.rhdjapan.com/pro-composit...6-zc6-brz.html

It says OEM is 5.7kg

Hi everyone, thanks for your contributions!!

I am not sure if the weight of the stock springs were stated in this post. But I just installed my braille 15lb battery and TRD springs. I weighed the springs just for the heck of it and found the TRD's weighed more.

Weight of stock springs 2.6lbs each (according to my scale) front and rear stock springs weigh the same.
TRD springs weight Front 3.6lbs Rear 4.8lbs
By switching to the TRD springs I gained 6.4lbs

Does, this sound about right?
If I had a bit more time I would like to produce an excel spreadsheet with all this data in this thread : )

Just FYI

Stiffer springs means thicker springs. Thicker slrings means heavier springs

Not necessarily, the spring could just have fewer coils or be manufactured in a way that produces a stiffer steel.
