Can you share the DIY link?

I am going to end up getting a Steelie. Hopefully this solution will work. Then when I want to use my sunshade, etc. I can easily remove my radar detector from the window.

I have used clear packing tape over the black sunscreen dots to make the area smoother...

Thanks again for this DIY just "hardwired" in my escort passport and it works like a dream. Only took 30 minutes mostly because the stupid airbag cover had a hard time going back into place. Also rather than tucking in the cable through the gap near the glove box its way easier to pop open that side kick panel and just close the cable over it.

So after days of being away from my car I decided that I would try this DIY. I own a valentine V1 and went to target to pick up a phone cord that was long enough to run from the glove box to my desired location. Long story short my V1 won't turn on any more. Both the center consol and the glove box electrical ports fail to start the radar. Tried my original cable to see if that was the issue and still no success. Any ideas y'all?

Most likely the fuse has blown in the V1 adapter. I have only had this happen once.

What could have caused the blown fuse? Was it the new phone cord or just by random chance. Id hate to swap out the fuse and plus the V1 back in to the new phone cord and have it blow again. And thanks for the help!

My fuse just popped randomly from powering on I believe. Maybe a power surge can cause this, I'm not sure. I thought my Valentine 1 was shot initially, but then I checked the fuse and it was blown. Pull out the fuse and check to see if it is blown. The wire will be broken inside the fuse if this is the case. The fuse is located in the power plug adapter. My V1 has been running strong for approx. 10 years.

You need to be careful with phone cables. They're reversed end to end by the standards, but they work for most phones even when they aren't. Sometimes they're wrong in the package, which could account for your problem.
