All the sudden the Scion badges on the FRS might be highly coveted instead of reviled... Especially if they just start calling it the Toyota FRS

lol if I still have my car in ten years I'll probably put my spare scion badges on. If it goes the way of Datsun, that is(yes I know how their history actually went lol).

Maybe they will release a 2nd gen of our cars under Toyota 86?

I was shocked seeing this on my local FB page! Like you I was saddened at first, then excited to be in the (potential) rare category...
As for now: I'll wait for something official :-)

From what I read over the years I think most of the US crowd will be happy to finally get a Toyota 86. Hope the Scion employees are cared after and migrated over to the Toyota family with minimal fuss.

It's not that simple.
With the move and internal re-org, employees must "re-apply" for a position at Toyota. But they are given an incentive if they choose to leave the company. That goes for the entire TMS corporation as they prepare the transition to Texas. It's gonna be a few rough years for Toyota internally. We speculate 2020 to be the year when everything finally settles in. |

Yes please.
If the GT86 comes to Canada I'm not even going to wait anymore. The GT86 literally takes all the features and stuff I like from the FR-S and combines it with what I like from the BRZ. |

That sucks, kind of sad. Hope the FRS continues as the GT86 in the US. And really hope there's a 2nd gen GT86 in the US.

GT86 lets go lol give us those sexy ass headlights in the US.
@xuimod I'm sure they'll either make it the Toyota FRS or GT86. The FRS sold pretty damn good, for their specific target market. And it wouldn't be the same to not have our twins. |

LOL I'm glad I wasn't the only one that felt the same way, not only does the emblems and logo look ugly af. Their target market is just not what I wanted to be a part of, and the FRS is too damn good to even be branded/tainted as a scion.
Edit: So after all the excitement now, I started to look around Google for the sales figures. I didn't find much but apparently our cars aren't selling very well or as well as I thought they were. I find it hard to believe since I have friends in CA saying they see FRS' and BRZs left and right, and I heard it's sold AMAZINGLY in Australia and other parts of the world. But not here in the USA. I don't know exact sales figures, but I hope that with the GT86 or FRS becoming a Toyota brand here in the USA that FRS' will start selling a lot more. I'm sure one of the factors in the case of the FRS was that it simply was a scion. Also potential customers will see the Toyota brand and think of quality and reliability now instead of it just being a scion, kind of like the Civic Si is for Honda, we see the Honda brand and know that it's immediately reliable and has quality to it. I hope our 86s will sell much better and we will see a 2nd generation 86. Last edited by Alltezza; 02-03-2016 at 04:32 AM. |
