I have the Perrin Catted/Resonated header back (ie:with overpipe) and my butt dyno -which does have some placebo effect- tells me that it pulls stronger. I bought it BECAUSE it wasn't loud all the time. I'm only 22, but for the most part I don't really like loud exhausts. This one is loud on startup, almost stock level idle and cruise, but sounds really aggressive when you romp on it. Not to mention it fills out those gaping cutouts in the diffuser exceptionally well. That's what I wanted, that's what I paid for, and I'm happy as a clam. It may not be everyone's taste though.

8whp would not be noticeable at all. What a waste. Do like someone else said and just get tips if that's the case.

Also, you could see the same horsepower gain by resetting your ecu. Talk about totally not worth it for the I/E lol

I expect most people only looking at catbacks would be happy with unresonated. Resonated is definitely worth looking at if you're doing a headerback, and especially if you have dreams of headers.

So as I said previously I pulled the trigger myself on the Perrin resonated catback through CZP (thanks to @Mike@CZP) on Saturday/Sunday.

Mike said he didn't have them in stock any longer but was able to get two more from Perrin at their held-over group buy price. He said Perrin was 1-2 weeks behind on their exhausts so it may be that long.

Just got a shipping notification w/ tracking. <3 Perrin and thanks again Mike!

What I did (and pissed off my neighbors in process) and had a blast doing, was starting the car in it's various states of disassembly and reassembly to listen to how it sounded

I don't agree. At low RPMs yes, but when you get on it, it has a nice deep tone. Remember not everyone is after sheer volume.

I have the resonated version. It is DEFINITELY louder than stock. Cold start-ups are noticeably louder. Up to 3k RPM is significantly louder. Over 3k, it has a nice tone to it.

Truthfully, I can't imagine getting anything louder than this. I'm glad I got the resonated version, because the non-resonated (or any other louder exhausts) would irritate the crap out of me 90% of the time. Sure, that other 10% of the time, it's fun hearing a loud exhaust. But man, would that get annoying having to live with a louder exhaust daily.

I just don't want others to see your post, and assume the resonated version is "stock level quiet". This is completely false. I wished I took db reading before and after, to show the difference. Many of us prefer a quieter, sophisticated tone...and this fits the bill perfectly.

That's fine, but I've been in/drove/heard his car countless times. After break in, it's very hard to hear a difference. He also doesn't have an overpipe, FWIW.

But it IS near stock level quiet. I'm not deaf, man. Do you have an over pipe that eliminates a cat? He doesn't. Maybe that is the difference.

I'm not knocking it. I mean for those who want a couple ponies and the something very quiet, it's perfect. But those who want a growl or some kind of noise, it might be a bit disappointing.

My catted resonated headerback has plenty of growl, completely unmistakable from stock. Stock really had no tone at all, all I heard was noise generator, now I can't pick out the noise generator from the exhaust sound. For me too, this is the loudest I would want, it's unnoticeable while cruising a constant speed, but when I push my right foot down it speaks right up.
