Do you think it's a mechanical sound or it's more like an electrical sound? Sometimes mine makes a buzzing noise that seems to be asociated with revs, definitely an electric sound that comes from under the sterring wheel.

It is very high pitched. I'm 23 and I know that when you get older you can't hear high pitch noises. It's that high pitched to where I don't think older people can hear it. I can't tell what area of the car its coming from

I got the same whine going in in my brand new 2017 Brz series yellow. Completely stock. Not sure if I just noticed it or if always been. Only got 1.3k miles on it. So perhaps it's always there? I'm normally always blasting music so maybe that's why I didn't notice. U can't hear it if ur playing music at a medium setting

I thought I had overwhelmed it with this, I made a muffler delete. But I can still hear it. Do you think trying a different transmission oil will help this? Redline or something?

Sure it isn't the diff? Many people are not used to the sounds they make.
Oil may help but your best bet would be to add some sound proofing material to the floor and tunnel. These cars are pretty much carpet the consistency of a Kleenex laying on top of bare metal which allows a number of noises that are not normally heard come out and play.

I have no idea what it is. I don't know what gear whine vs diff whine is. I have considered that but don't really know anything about sound proofing either. I'm game to try it tho. I have a free weekend this weekend.

It isn't hard to do but does take some time and will add a bit of weight. The weight is well spread out though. You would just need to concentrate on the floor, tranny tunnel and trunk.

from OP's description think this is normal. my 6th gear has always had the faintest whine from day one, though i only notice it under the right conditions..usually has to be around 70-80 mph on a relatively smooth highway.

post up a video. if it is too faint to catch on video then it is most likely the aforementioned whine..

When I got the car I really thought I was crazy but yes that thing is REALLY annoying. It happens when I am cruising at freeway speeds and also when pushing throttle a little more. When I stop pressing the throttle and let it coast, the sound stops too. I don't hear it anymore since I have an exhaust but I am sure it is still there. Not sure what it is though. My guess is fuel pump, or just lack of refinement in these cars, as I can notice a lot of weird rattling and stupid noises haha.

Yep. It is not a Jag, BMW nor a Lexus so you hear everything.

My 2013 frs does it aswell like everyone else either says it does it and they can or can’t hear it or theirs don’t just seems like some people can hear better because I have my car with catless front pipe and a Manzo resinator besides that no mufflers with stock headers and I can still hear it from time to time

There's an internal resonance in the stock diff right around 75 mph. It's barely noticeable with the stock mounts but it's there.
