I'm not quite sure why anyone cares. 20 years ago liter class Japanese sportbike and UJM riders got embroiled in a similar snit about the rudeness and non-waving habits of HD riders.
Eventually, everyone I knew got over it. Most just concluded the Harley guys couldn't get their thumbs out of their asses in time to return a wave. Some figured if they had ride an HD, they'd be in a bad mood, too. Like they say, 90% of Harleys are still on the road. 10% actually made it home. All that said, for car and, particularly pick up drivers in Texas wave styles are included in the state constitution. Five finger flapping is frowned on. The standard accepted form is the two finger "V" with using the left hand on top of the wheel. If someone doesn't return one of those, folks assume "he aint from round here. Best not be stoppin."

Even in Northern California, in the Bay Area, it is hard to get a wave, even in a non stock, modified BRZ. Everytime I nod or wave to a frs/gt86/brz owner I never gave a wave/nod/anything back, especiallllyyyyy if they are stock. Because of that I only do something if the other driver engages first now. What's funny is that no frs/gt86/brz owner ever engages, other cars will try to race you (especially civics), and the guy in the mom/dad car will thumbs up, comment, or give a wave.

Had the car for 2 years, I see 3-4 per day and I can count the number of waves on one hand. When I rode a bike, it was pretty frequent. Last vehicle was a Jeep we did the wave thing about 30% of the time, but it was a Jeep thing and you wouldnt understand.

Thats why I don't wave anymore unless they did first and I respond.

i don't get this at all. Do you really stare into the windows of every car you pass? Do people have eagle eyes and just see everything? Maybe I'm just enjoying driving or totally spaced out, but I never notice if people wave or not because I never see the drivers.

More and more these cars are becoming mainstream (non-enthusiast) cars.
It would be like a race prepped Miata driver questioning why other (hair dressers) Miata drivers aren't waving back. |

Least you werent flipped off.
I get half waves, half embarrassed nods and here and there someone yells, "hey dude I love your car!" P.s. my honey boo says people will purposely follow her when it's her driving or have guys come over and offer to pump gas for her while making thirsty remarks. Whatever that means.

I had a kid in an Outback from Manitoba yell out "I like your FR-S!" the other day. Took me by complete surprise because I jumped out of my seat. I eventually gave him a thumbs up but it's a rare occurrence. Usually, in LA, everyone is busy grumbling about traffic to even acknowledge each other.

Someone in a dark blue FR-S waved at me on Saturday, but I noticed too late to wave back. If you're on here, my apologies.
