The same could be said about anybody that wants to increase power, change colour, upgrade interior, change suspension, put tires on it, improve the sound system, make the exhaust louder, or any other personal preference that can be thought of.

In fact I don't know why they made they car at all since nobody likes everything about it and they should all have bought something different to get what they want out of it. We are apparently all fools for wanting to change the things we don't like and should have just bought something that already had that one thing that was different.

Do you?

Glad to see you have successfully addressed the Achilles heel of this car, not enough rear grip.

I fixed this by fitting softer rear springs, MCA traction aids and a stiffer front roll bar.

Then a Supercharger so I can decide when the back gets loose, not the car.

Good for you. You are a true American hero and we should all do what you do since we all drive exactly the same and have the same wants and needs out of the car.

I am perfectly aware of what noise levels are and the ROAD NOISE levels are greatly reduced. Sorry your experience isn't the same.

Dumbest statement I have read in a while. I spend 14 hours a week in my car and the road noise does nothing to add excitement or engage me. It is just noise.

Subaru built a car and then you changed most of it's features.

Whatever you do don't go for Gforce Sport Comp-2's

I've got them on my MX5 and it is borderline unbearable at highway speed. Last long drive I took (~ 6 hours) I had to wear earplugs.

An alternative would be to soundproof the trunk area - I'm not too familiar with the 86 (yet ) , but some dampening material + closed cell foam might help.

For reference, blizzak ws80's made significantly less noise than the comp-2's

You should see the miata forums. If you even manage to hint in the direction of road noise you get endless replies of angry posters saying you bought the wrong car. Apparently a few pounds of insulation completely throws off the balance and makes the mx5 worthless

You can't reduce the noise without adding a lot of weight.

The changes I made were pretty much the same ones Subaru made for 2017.

If you haven't tried fitting the 2017 rear springs and some decent dampers, Bilstein or Sachs, you should.

Hero, yes, American no, thank goodness.

Road noise in these cars is ridiculous. Once you remove the childish intake noise generator you realize all the noise comes from the tires.

I'd be interested in objective sound measurements comparing the stock Primacy to the PS A/S 3.

Actually no, I wouldn't because I already know that the Primacy is quieter and the PS A/S3 is a better tire.

Look Uber I have enough playing with you.
And oddly enough I could hand you objective sound measurements since I did indeed take readings on the Primacy tires and have the equipment to do the same with the PS. No sense in it since you would just deny the results anyways.

I'm targeting 50lbs total of sound deadening. We'll see how far I can get with that. I plan on doing it step by step and posting some results. Data makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Primary plan is the rear seatbacks and shelf, floors, front kicker panels and rear quarters. My goal is to specifically target tire and road noise, that's what wears on me the most, especially on segmented concrete highways.

Gotta fix my SOs rogue first though. Dang thing has two water leaks to trace down. Whole interior is in my living room except the front two seats. Calling it the Rogue Sport Coupe Superleggera (Rogue SCS for short).
