June 23 Openroad Closed Course Test Drive Event

I just came back from the event. Must admit the course was so so, but the car made it so much fun. I was there in the 10 am group (in case you are wondering, I'm really tall chinese guy in the black jacket).

The organizers did a great job. They had 3 cars running all AT tranny. Didn't matter as you can take the entire course in first gear. All TC and VSC were allowed off with sport mode on.

I think this is how test drives should be done. Theres no point in testing a sports car on the street really. Many thanks to jessie, the beautiful scion rep who didn't punch me after a ride like that. I think it caught her by suprise lol.

As for the car, its great. I've only test driven it once 3 weeks ago. Coming back it feels right at home after the first lap. I think this is due to the car being so easy to control. Though I still stand by my opinion that steering feel is lacking. I drove pretty poorly and wasn't smooth on the controls but it didn't punish me as much as I thought it would; the margin before the limit is quite large.

Hope you guys had fun, we should definitely set up a frs/brz club in the lower mainland and meet up.

yea we have a few members interested in forming a club but Cory is a maybe and Ikaros I no longer see on here. Marloon has to wait for his exam marks and everyone else is waiting for cars haha

Just pretty much me, bneale, syncromesh and scioneric I guess right now.

I got a spot for the last group cant remember the time but not sure if I should even go with its just autos on a so so course. I can just go to Cypress and goof off there again.

=[ Don't forget about me! Soon enough I will get this car I've been waiting for and we'll start hanging out!

Anyways, I went to test drive the FR-S at Lansdowne on this beautiful sunny day, got to try it twice even! First timers got priorities...even though some didn't even register... Anyways, all I can say is that, the 2nd time was well worth the 30 mins wait! I'll be uploading some videos soon! Smiles from ear to ear for me today!

I noticed alittle understeer while I was really reving this thing hard around corners... even with traction control off and sports mode on...I only wish they had a MT so I can compare the both. Kinda too bad they only had AT... but in the end, overall this car is freak'n FUN!
To those who says autos ain't fun, well; you obviously haven't driven this car before! In "D" it lets you rev as high as you want with a rev limiter of course. If you use the paddle shifting "M" mode, upshifting and downshifting is just as fun; when upshifting, there's barely any delay; when downshifting it rev matches your RPM and goes insanely smooth! (Love the sound of the boxer engine!)

Yup pretty gutted about it too, pretty major leak in a bad spot. When they pull the tranny at 500km its not a happy situation.

I also noticed some understeer. I think it is due to me not transfering the weight properly. The professional reviews all have tested at faster speed than what we did, so I think the layout of the course has something to do with it as well.

I had 2 runs too, props to the reps who took all that beating today.

Hrm, did they give you any information such as if anybody else experienced the same thing? Hoping this is an isolated incident and you'll be up and running soon.

Well I get all the inside goods, my father is a technical instructor @ Toyota canada , and it seems like I'm the only one so far, was quite a noticeable leak so I'm sure we would have a lot more posts about it if it was wide spread. Unlucky me I guess, seems to be a manufacturing error but really won't know until I get it back ands its not leaking. Can be hard to pinpoint since there's 4 possibilities behind the bell housing engine side, its so new and the oil is so thin and its spraying onto the back of the flywheel the splattering all over the back of the engine so its tough to pinpoint.

Honestly I would not be worried about it you would notice this leak right away, and its not something that will spring up, it was a manufacturing error. Just sucks really because of truly how awesome the frs is to drive, missing it already! my tails seem to be okay, no condensation at all. But I've seen foggy tails in most modern cars, so no biggie.
