Phew... Got got back to the bay. But a 6hr drive with a Vortech SC'd BRZ isn't all that bad. I'll start a info-packed thread tomorrow that should be useful for those interested in adding boost to their OFT powered car

The OFT has been able to support this the entire time. Call any local tuner and ask if they support open source products. Although the datalogging is still lacking some things that a number of tuners would like to have. Your tuner should be able to provide you with a base map. Hell if he cant you know how to contact me and I may be able to give you a hand.

You would think that since all superchargers are dependent on engine rpm, the oft vortech tune should work for all the other sc kits with just minor tweaks

Its a tad more complicated than that. You don't simply just tune X fuel supply for X rpm. Typically our cars are tuned with a maf sensor. And in the case of say a jackson racing supercharger if you remove the catalytic converters in the car the MAF sensor maxes out at 5.0v and cannot read the additional fuel at higher RPM. Thus alternate techniques are required.

the big issue is logging. if you can't log fuel system status and injection mode, you can't effectively tune for larger injectors, which basically means you can't run anything that requires them. once those logging parameters are added you'll be good up to ~300-350whp or so when you run out of MAF and need speed density to keep going. as @nelsmar points out this is dependent on the size of the MAF housing, which in some cases (JR kit) is smaller and thus you'll hit that wall at a lower airflow level. of course you can increase the size of said housing, but that has it's own set of drawbacks.

it won't be long until you'll be able to run just about any supercharger setup with OFT, and i can't wait. it'll be a great option for guys who want to save some money on a nice bang-for-your-buck FI setup. i'd imagine it'll be a bit longer until we see the stuff available to safely run a turbo setup, though. hopefully that will be coming down the road as well. the two big things being provisions for a boost cut and electronic boost control, along with the aforementioned sd implementation for anyone running higher boost or e85.

things are looking rather exciting on the OFT side of things. can't wait to see what comes next. gotta love rapid development.

Quick update:

Spent much of this week on the dyno. Both at Vortech and at the local shop. And both dynos are Mustang Dynos. I'm quite happy with the result so far. They aren't final until we get the car on a Dynojet and get apples-to-apples numbers. So mum is the word for now

Our customer test car has a Vortech SC, OFT, OFH and Perrin CBE. It's a wonderful driving combo.

And here's a datalog form the drive home. Nice cool 50F night! A few 4th, 5th and 6th gear pulls

http://datazap.me/u/shivvishnu/openf...ting-50f-night

MAF voltage peaks at 4.8v. Boost level is just over 10psi. MAF housing is bigger than stock with absolutely no drivability/idle issues. All tuning/logging during calibration was done exclusively with OFT. Next week I'll have a very big update for you guys

Have a great weekend!
Cheers,
shiv

Shiv, I'm interested in going with this same combo. Any chance you have a video that shows how it sounds? I've already got the Vortech, The Perrin Header back (2.5") and just need the OFT and OFH.

Your question does not make very much sense.

Just clicked on the "buy" button on a vortech kit. Hopefully the tune will be out by the time I install it. 😃

Where did you buy it from? We will be selling the Vortech kit through our website next week. And will have discounts for new or current OFT users. Might want to wait and see what we offer

Not to mention different flow rates at the same boost pressure depending on the compressor used in the particular kit, different maf placement from kit to kit (changes the airflow pattern around the maf), etc etc. Different size charge pipes, inter-cooler efficiency etc. Though mainly the flow rate and maf placement.
