traded...
did the deed today and traded my BRZ. Been a great year - no regrets.
The forester is actually pretty damn nice. Surprisingly, the CVT doesn't suck. |

Glad you like the forester! ive been looking at picking one up. The reviews have been pretty awesome. If you dont mind me asking what prompted the trade? Needed more space?

I always wondered.. So since you owned the BRZ for a year i dont think you fully paid it off. But because you traded what happens to the payments etc? Whats the process?

Assuming he didnt buy it cash and he did in fact finance, the dealer pays off your loan balance and then you get a new loan for the car you are getting. Thats how it works most of the time.

If he traded it for 24k but only owed 20k, then that 4k goes into the forester and the forester becomes 21k.

The 2014 Forester XT is great car. I put mine in sport mode and barely remember it's a CVT. I didn't like the regular (2.5L) Forester but loved the XT with the Turbo 2.0L FA20 BRZ engine (250 hp 258 torque). I kept both the BRZ and FXT. I actually traded something else for the FXT.

Wow.... I am almost ready to pull the trigger on trading my Tribeca B9 for a new Forester, so I can understand the desire for the utility of such a vehicle. But to trade my BRZ would be heresy...
Obviously you had a need for this car over what the BRZ provided you. It is a shame that you could not have both. But if this was the best decision for you, then you did the right thing. That must be a 2013 XT as the 2014 has a different front end. So you probably got a pretty good price on it. If this is good for "you", then that is all that matters. I hope you don't miss the BRZ too much..... |

Hmm
Did they give you a good trade in value on the BRZ? I bought mine in May so I was wondering if they have some sort of refund deal or something.... I have 4200 miles on it. The forester xt with nav is about the same price I paid for the brz plus warrenty/protection plan.

From sports coupe to SUV in a year. Transition does not compute. Did you have an unplanned kid or something? I don't understand... Anyway, the Foresters are really nice. I hope you enjoy it!

Hmm according to that website my brz fetches a minimum of 23,800 and I have 5k less miles... That along with my $500 loyalty coupon... I can definitely see myself trading in for the 2014 WRX!!

I know, I know - not an easy decision, but here's the situation today I didn't know a year ago.
-bought a new home in the sticks in upstate NY (winter can be serious) -my beater F-150 that I drove through the winter finally checked out -my commute went from 2 minutes to 20 -1st kid on the way Here's the deal -BRZ premium purchase price $24999 -Forester 2.5 Premium + all weather purchase price $23999 -Subaru guarantee trade in on BRZ (10K miles) $21500 -Sales tax saved on trade $1700 -Still owed on BRZ, $10000 so basically I got a clear title from the bank for the BRZ - took a loan on the Forester for $12500, gave the dealer a check for $2500 and drove away. I'm not sentimental about it. Loved the BRZ, but this is right for now. I'm looking forward to getting another toy in a few years - another Harley, sailboat, 4 wheeler, Miata... we'll see |

Cool man. You're doing what you need to do and there's no shame in that! It looks like you got a good deal too. Besides, we're all eying that new WRX now I think. haha
