No, they are not.

I would say as close as it gets, lineage wise, is that the Twins, (BRZ, FRS, GT86,) are the spiritual successor to the AE86, which I would consider a brother/sister car to the 85 Celicas, (the ones with RWD, still had the 22RE so it was EFI.)

I had a 3rd, and 3 4th gen Celicas. They are great cars, and part of why I fell in love with older Toyotas but they are very different.

I've never met an Aussie that would admit to drinking Foster's. And I've never had it myself either. VB and Crown Lager, but never Foster's.
