I've found a motor. 2015 Camaro low miles. Everything is there less AC compressor and bracket and left side motor mount. A private sale, $1400. Pick it up Thursday. I have lines on a couple of transmissions. Plenty of low mile Camaro ones,,, would rather a CTS MV7 one though

I remain concerned about the height of the motor. That said,, was watching some NHRA racing this weekend. Love the bowed hoods on the pro-stock cars.

I agree. Regardless of practicality/cost/ease I love seeing people doing new or innovative or even sometimes just silly stuff (not saying this is silly, just a general statement). Maybe if engineering wasn't my day job I'd have more motivation for it outside.

Had a thought yesterday regarding swaybar space,, or lack there of. After looking at the Holden pan, it's clear that the part of the pan that is probably in the way doesn't really do anything less cover the flywheel. When looking from the flywheel side, you can see where the pan actually is (red in 1st pic) and there doesn't seem to be any reason it couldn't be cut off (yellow). The only issue I see is the pocket the bolt needs to reside in isn't really flat and would need some attention.

Motor is here. What a PITA,,, almost 600 miles round trip and a full day. Should be worth it though. The car was on the road for 3 months and had a dash fire that totaled it. The guy wasn't sure of the exact mileage as the dash was toast,, but showed me the Carfax showing the 3 months on the road. It's super clean maybe 1500 miles and $1400.
It's missing the compressor and bracket, tensioner, one motor mount and a pipe that connects the motor to the Radiator. I thought the motor mounts might work in the FRS but in looking at them they wouldn't so it doesn't matter one's missing. I'm going to need to get wiring diagram. In a perfect world I'd just order the manuals but they're over $500 so that wont do. I'll get it on the stand this weekend and pull that pan and see what we have. Sure be a bitch if that Holden pan didn't work.

Hate to say it,, but you could be right. If so building a custom pan may be more than I'm willing to undertake. That said, the LFX is based on the LLT motor which is based on the LY7 which the 2004-2007 3.6l Holden VZ pan (the one in question) comes from. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_High_Feature_engine The is the LFX rear sump pan from a Camaro: This is the pan I have: Bolt pattern looks right,,, but again can't be sure until I set it place.

One more thing that struck me last night looking at the new motor and the Holden pan. The 2 bolts in the rear of the pan have a much smaller diameter than the bolts on either side. The front has no bolts at all. A bit more fuel for cutting off the bottom rear of the pan for sway bar space.
One additional thing as well.. the Camaro pan has a bunch of additional webbing/reinforcement on the pan. Strangely enough, the motor mount has 1 bolt into the pan.

Would love to see a picture of that. A late model oil pan should be available via GM. Could be a good thing for those that follow.
