I may have broke my phantom ESC. My battery was dead so I went to jump my car. Little did I know, my car was in the On mode. I have the push to start button and didn't know it works that way. I clicked it a couple of times before I came to the conclusion it was dead and didn't realize it can technically still be On.

Anyway, as soon as I hooked up the jumper cables to my car battery, all the electronics turned on, including the ESC, and the compressor started spinning (thanks to the procede map). I hopped into my car as quickly as possible to turn off the ESC, but it may be too late. I was driving around for an hour afterwards and couldn't get it to work again. The voltmeter is on and reads 28.x. The procede software still reads the RPMs and throttle position. But no series of beeps when the ESC is turned on. No boost or voltage drops when I step on the pedal.

I hope it's just the thermal fail safe and that it'll be back to normal in a little bit. I'll check again tomorrow, which kind of sucks, since I'll be going on a drive with the norcal guys tomorrow morning.

Any luck this morning? You may need to double check your connections as they may be grounding out. Double check the connections from the controller to the battery and the connections from the controller to the motor.

I've jump-started my car 7 or 8 times already, and haven't had the slightest problem. My OFT keeps draining my starter battery whenever I forget to switch off my OBD2 extension cable with power switch. Fortunately it has only happened at home, where I have one of those rechargeable power-pack, jump-starter, air-pump things. It sits on the shelf for years and now I'm using it every week. I'm thinking about using some kind of high amperage relay or contactor to switch in one of the ESC batteries to help start the car. It has always started when I switched off the OFT though, so maybe I just need to replace that OBD2 power switch with a relay, so it turns off automatically whenever I shut off the car.

Full throttle Electric Supercharger Build Thread

This is about the 10-20th time I jumped my car. Bad battery, street parking and I only drive it once every couple of weeks now. I have the new odyssey starter battery, but didn't install it yet because I don't drive that often anymore. Just make sure you're car is not on the On mode when you jump it, or at least the ESC switch is not on.

Edit: I leave my stock battery in the trunk and use that to jump my powersonic battery every time.

I have the Odyssey battery, and don't have any problems starting when I remember to turn off the OBD2 switch. That OFT really uses a lot of power when the car is off. Even full-sized batteries have been drawn down too low to start the car. I wish the OFT had a Aux power tap to automatically shut it off when the car is off, and a coin-sized battery to remember your settings when it was off. Maybe those can be new features in the OFT2. I would also like to see the OFT and PROcede throttle controller combined into one unit. Does anyone know of an OBD2 extension cable with a relay-controlled power switch?

I've just sent a message to the ebay seller who sells the OBD2 extension cable with switch. I asked if they could make an auto-switching extension cable for people like me who forget to turn off their OBD2 switch and draining their battery. I'll post links if they are able to produce such a cable.

do you need to connect OFT all the time? can you just disconnect it when car shuts off?

I actively tune with my OFT and need to watch things like IAM, AFR, and Boost. The trouble I'm having is that I can leave it on during daily trips when I don't leave the car for more than 2 - 3 hours, so I set it to show what I want to see and leave it. When I park it at the end of the day, however, I need to remember to switch off the OBD2 extension cable's switch, or disconnect the OFT or I have to jump-start it in the morning.
The real problem is I don't have to disconnect the OFT every time I shut off my car, only when I leave it off overnight.
