trunk opening it self

any one eles had this problem? im not going to take it in tell i can duplicate exactly what it takes to make it happen. it happened 3 times on Friday when i went to get in the car. i thought maybe i just hit the button on the faub then it happened again just driving down the highway and again when i turned to get on the highway (not fast just normal driving). i checked i cant hit the button on the dash with my knee even if i try plus it needs to be held down for a two count.

Hit the button in the trunk to disable the electric release, see if it still does it. That will rule out the electronics and if it continues to happen you have a mechanical issue.

Mine has done this a few times too. I figured I was just hitting the button when I was taking the key out of the ignition. Maybe there's more to it than I thought??

That kinda scary. Better not put stuff in the trunk until that issue get fix.

I would have guessed key fob in the pocket or something, but if it's in the ignition... Maybe the button is sticking?

I had a WRX fob on a keychain that just loved to push the panic button every other time I would kneel down.

I haven't messed with it to much but there is no physical way for me to hit the button with my knee and i dont think the faub button would work with the car in motion.

Maybe it's a spirit trapped inside the trunk...pulling on that emergency trunk release.

This happened to me a few times the first week of ownership and stopped. I was carrying some wheels from my trade-in in the back and it stopped when I unloaded the wheels. I assumed the wheels were sliding around and hitting something, causing the trunk to open.

It's been 3 months since the last occurrence so I've been over it for a while.

happened to me as well but mine was due to the trunk release button being pressed while in my jeans (I got a bunch of keychain things so it doesn't help) just changed how I carry my keys and now no more problems
