That's pretty much what I do. In the area I live that is either QT or Racetrac. Most "name brand" stations here have way less traffic then these two.

Hard to say for me since I've only used a single station so far but I'm simply using 93 shell, nitro power V+ yaddi yadda. No engine related issues, runs and sounds really smooth. When my vacuum pump isn't rattling (getting that checked out wednesday, woo). It contains 10% ethanol according to the pump, but I've been thankful enough to avoid the crickets after roughly 1400 miles on the odometer.

It's the regional/seasonal blend and additive package. Mine is more likely to chirp on winter blend gasoline, which has butane in it. It also chirps like an entire forest if I use Sam's Club gas. My fuel pump really doesn't like whatever additives they put into their gas (or leave out of it). Since you can't really know what is in the gas, all you can really do is keep an ear on your fuel pump and become a repeat customer at the station(s) where it's quieter. Even then, it's possible to have a quiet fuel pump on a particular gas, then have it change when the blend changes in the fall or spring. |

Chevron is the only gas so far that gets rid of the crickets in mine. Performance wise, I dont notice much difference.

interesting about shell gas, noticed over the last 5-8 years in different autos that the shell always seemed underpowered, not to bash shell, but hard to burn all those soap additives... but it sure does clean !! use it for your mower, Ha
...on a more SERIOUS note, will try the Sunoco in Burnet to see what they have, and a web entry from last year mentioned the Sunoco in Austin had non-ethanol and 100 octane (we believe everything we read on the web LOL) >>>will report back<<< may also check the Sunoco in Marble Falls BTW, did use one once in florida in a pickup, with their non-e sold for boats, it was GREAT oh, yeah (haha) i use costco or esso (exxon for you pups) |

The best mileage I had out of my car was using 100% gasoline. At first I was able to get 93 octane, then they only offered 91 octane where I fuelled.
After I moved, I began using Mapco 93 octane for awhile, then switched to Costco 93 octane. The car seemed to like Costco, so I used it all the way up until the wreck. YMMV, but my suggestion is if you have a 100% gasoline station, try it out. |

IMO, 87octane is total shit and gas with ethanol is total shit.
I exclusively run clear premium. I have CFN and Pacific pride gas cards though...

My experience also directly contradicts the heat myth. I've done most of my driving in Louisiana, Texas and Florida. My crickets are worst when the weather is colder and stops in the summer. I haven't heard a chirp in months. However, I did track trends with different brands. My car was generally quieter on Chevron. Shell was hit or miss but usually fell on the quieter side. Sunoco was noisy. Sam's Club was ungodly loud. Marathon is weird, in that some stations would result in loud crickets and some would make it ultra quiet. At 92K miles now, my crickets have all but stopped. I only hear them sporadically in the winter when I get a tank of winter blend gas, like when I drive north out of Florida for the holidays. |
