Most of the time those cars go up to auction along with a hand full of high mileage retired cop cars.
Unless it's a shady dealership, but who knows.

I would take the deal if i still wanted a 86. But that's all on you.

Yeah both dealerships stated these cars would go into auction. I personally would not sell this car outright to anybody. First off, they would understand this car would need a complete engine rebuild. Second of all, I would not get close to 7k from a private sale with the work it needs.

Do you know something we don't? Maybe your definition of "horizon" is very different than mine since we know NOTHING yet. Are they just supposed to stop selling new ones for the next 2, 3 or even 4 years because a new one is "coming soon"? Ludicrous to wait for something that is a total unknown when there are still new ones being made.

Because I put so many miles a year on a car every single one I ever traded in went straight to auction.
In fact I was still signing the papers for my 2012 Lancer GTS when my traded in 2003 Lancer Rally went past the showroom window on the back of a flatbed. It went to auction about 50 miles away and two weeks later showed up at a house across the street from home. Still had my parking pass sticker on the windshield and mud I had spattered up the side since they had done nothing to even clean it up a bit.

Yep, pretty much the same here. My youngest son is already trying to talk me into buying a new car so he can give his 60K+ Focus to my son who has a 220K+ mile Accord and he can have mine. The FRS is the car he took his driver's test in so he has an attachment to it.

I would much rather do something like that then trade it in at this point.

Mine was supposed to go to my grandson when I change but it will be a 200,000+ mile car by then so not sure I want wish that on him. Also, insurance is almost 3 times what he would pay for an old Mazda 3 or something like that so he would need another job. Probably will see what private sale will get me or just take whatever pittance of a trade in I will get and be happy with that.

The horizon can be a lot farther than it looks

I'm borderline on pulling the trigger, the only reason why I would trade up to another BRZ is also the attachment I have to this car. It was actually my first car I bought myself 7 and a half years ago when I was 18 and i planned on never getting rid of it. But for a newer BRZ it will almost be the same.

Get the new car. It would put your mind at ease I'm sure.

Heheh me too. Every now and then I think to myself that it's gotta be worth $10k but then I realize that, no... I think the battle scars are what really does it in more so than the mileage, at least on mine.

OP - take the deal and get the PP car.

I think I will be pulling the trigger this week. SOA just called offering another 2k off my car through their loyalty program. As much as I want the PP, they only offer it in black and I'm not a fan of black cars in my area. So a 2019 white limited for 18k is a pretty good deal i believe.

It isn't going to get much better than that!
They don't want to carry the stock over the winter. The sales of things tank in the winter in any northern market.

The story behind it is, my motor has blown 3 times since february. In the very near future it will blow a fourth time. Not too crazy about waiting for the next gen and then having to go through the first year problems.
