Well the noise went back and the axle was really defective.

I've asked to my local dealer, they accepted to give me the part and to do it myself !

I've replaced it today and guess what, no more ticking now

So what is the remedy for making sure your axle doesn't break, if your only lowered 0.8 - 1" ? Is it aftermarket DU bushings ... (whiteline), or some kind of upgraded CV joint ? What should be replaced when lowering the car ?

Not much to worry about when dropped an inch or less.

Thanks Tcoat.

That's what I thought, just making sure. I was researching springs/struts about 6-8 months ago, and I boiled it down to either TRD or RCE springs. I ended up getting a set of slightly used RCE springs……just have to find the time to do the install, then roll over for a 4-wheel alignment . Ohhh, and I still need to get my camber bolts.

Not sure if I posted here, but I snapped my stock axle last year during a drift event. Replaced axles with DSS after that ad snapped a DSS axle today. Car is lowered and turbocharged. DSS axles were on the car for less than 1 year and haven't got a lot of abuse. I went to 2 or 3 drift events since installed them.
Stock axles survived a lot of events on NA car, but snapped after just 2 events with turbo.

Probably main reason of why DSS axle snapped is that I had some issues with boots after I installed new axles.
I'm gonna buy a new set from DSS, also going to buy PSM/PBM diff and subframe raisers. Hopefully this setup will survive longer.

Lean manufacturing & cost cutting have come a long way since the 90s or 2000s. Just because older cars withstood abuse, doesn't mean cars today should as well. Most parts are now designed for their specific purpose. Although I can't say for sure whether lowering causes increased shear in an axle, increased torque sure will.
When you mess with the geometry of the suspension, or torque output, I'm afraid you're on your own. I hate it too, but a BRZ isn't a Supra.

I can't tell now whether this is a US only issue or applies elsewhere as well. I have a '13 86 and want to go lower than it already was but not sure anymore...

Actually there are some differences amongst the US frs/brz and overseas 86 and on another forum some people mentioned the axle break being a US issue so that's what I'm tryna confirm. I do doubt they'd be different but fingers crossed here
