Installed my sub in a different way. It is a 10" sub with a 50watt amp installed free air. sounds ok. I'm just trying a few different things...

The piece of ply's edge has electrical tape around it. It literally snaps into the back of the wheel. Had to remove the sub to get it out. Now there is the strap to pull it out! lol

Edit: Built a box for the woofer the fits in the spare tire. 9/28

I had a 8"sealed box I made in the car and thought about making a fiberglass insert that fits snug into the small spare spot there but totally flat. Thought about it for a couple days
but gave up and just had a shop make a ported one since I just didn't have the spare time.
Funny thing is I have thought about changing it and getting a nice 6.5" sub that would fit in that spot really easy. Started with 12", then on to several 10"s and then the current 8".
Now thinking that 6.5 is enough. The older I get the smaller my sub becomes. I bet Tcoat, Humfrz and the older gentlemen in here have really tiny subs or they shrank down to no sub!
In fact when I hear other people play their music loud at stop lights I shake my fist in the air at them..."turn down that mumble rap you whipper snapper!"
Then sometimes I play mine louder to drown theirs out.

I have a small powered sub between my driver seat and the rear seat/gas tank. Fits perfect. No need to manufacture anything

IIRC it's an 8 inch. Something like 100watts. More than I need though
