DDPR EcuTek Tuning results

Hey all,

Just wanted to let everyone know we have been an authorized EcuTek tuner for the past month.

We spent quite a bit of time on our own stock FR-S tune and posted the results here:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...?t=7319&page=5

We were contacted by one of our customers to do a custom tune on their FR-S.

The customer had Visconti's ecutek flash, not sure on what revision it was, and a Nameless catted overpipe, Nameless midpipe, and SRT axel back exhaust. Stock header and stock front cat. 17K miles on the ODO

We strapped the car down and made 3 dyno pulls and power came in around 181 whp.

We decided to reset the ECU and re-dyno. The car picked up a few HP after the reset with the Visconti tune baseline just shy of 185 whp. Reflected as Runfile 04.

Runfile 24 is our custom tune.

Looking over the numbers, this "catback" exhaust combo seemed to make the biggest gain at 7,000-7700 rpm when compared to our stock tuned FRS (dyno sheet posted in the link). The gains were 6-7 horsepower in that rpm range.

I have been waiting to see this from you guys. Interesting but nice gains down low around 1500-3k rpms compared to the other tune. I bet that feels nicer on the road, along with almost 10whp gain up top? Sign me up

Thanks!

We hope to announce pricing and all that good stuff by next week at the latest. We have a meeting tomorrow to discuss and decide what we feel is fair.

Interested... btw will you make RaceROM features available? And will you tweak customer tunes through datalogs?

Nice to see more shops tuning EcuTek and doing custom dyno tunes. Base maps and e-mail tunes are great starting points, but I always feel a custom dyno tune is worth the investment.

Thanks! I agree - it is always best to dyno tune your own car to be sure that everything is safe and power has been maximized.

That said, we plan to sell this tune as a "base map" to folks with comparable modifications and access to 93 octane fuel. Our tune we developed for our bone stock FRS made about 190 when we dropped it on this car with no modification to the tune, so we feel rather confident in the efficacy of these tunes.

We have not discussed RaceRom features yet, but it certainly on the table for the future.

If a customer wants us to tune by mail we can do that to an extent, however variable valve timing tuning cannot be properly optimized in that fashion, only fuel and ignition. You need very stable loading conditions to tune VVTi properly, so it is best done on the dyno.

How soon on pricing?? I've been holding out on a tune to see how many companies would produce one within the first yr of the car's release. So far the competition is pretty stiff, but they're a few forum favs so far. Just trying to see which one will give me most bang for my buck. Unfortunately i wont be able to get a turbo for quite some time.

We have decided that $300 for the tunewill be our price for now, plus $250 for the license, so $550 total.

LOL! 192 to the tire doesn't exactly "rip the street" in my opinion, but it certainly is giving it a stern look and a talking to.
