Cat-back advice

Hey guys and gals, I've been searching and reading for days but this forum has a lot of threads and very few useful stickies. So I have to ask for some advice on a cat-back for my FRS. I love the sound of the Magnaflow but dislike it's stamped 180 degree bend into the muffler, slip connections and mostly 409SS construction. I like the Borla CB a lot but fear it may be too loud or drone too much for me. The Greddy EVO3 and Perrin w/res are also on my short list. I'd much prefer at least 2.5" single pipe, although once it splits, 2" is more than enough.

My plans for my FRS are simple. Exhaust upgrade for better sound and reduced restriction for the future supercharger from Innovate or Vortech. I am not looking for max power, 200+ whp would satisfy me. TIA

for me its come down to two products:

Nameless and Invidia.

Both are relatively cheap and both are solid quality. The nameless is hand made and the invidia is beautiful and hits a low note like no other.

Im going to be making my choice tomorrow and ordering one or the other. Im lightly leaning toward the invidia package with the front pipe for $775 from ft86speedfactory.com.

Idk tho, ive been going back and forth for weeks now deciding.

It seems awfully loud. Not that that is a bad thing, if that is what you are shooting for, but what if you are trying to talk to someone or listening to music?

After you decide and install, come back with some feedback on noise.

Im looking for above average loudness. One of our PDX frs owners has it in his car and it sounds wonderful. We have several members with the nameless product and a couple with the perrin. All sound great. Its a hard choice....

also putting in the perrin overpipe as well.

Quick and probably retarded question.

You've got the header, which then leads to your overpipe, to your front pipe, to the down pipe, and then to the exhaust, be that a cat-back or whatever. Correct?

It would seem (to me) that replacing one of these things without replacing them all isn't worth it, unless you are just looking for an exhaust note.

I've never been entirely interested in aftermarket modifications to cars until the BRZ, so sorry if I ask too many obvious questions!

header -> overpipe -> frontpipe --> midpipe --> muffler

midppe + muffler = catback

Thanks but it appears that you and I are looking for very different exhaust sounds. Both Nameless and Invidia are much louder than I want.

It's very hard to judge them based upon random sound clips taken from many different recording devices under very different conditions.

I went with Lachute exhaust and very pleased. Only comes on when you want it and quiet on the hwy and very well made.

That's a possibility although the very small 60mm piping will be quite restrictive after I add FI.
