I'd say if you are already out that way, you ought to stop at Yosemite!
I took some of my favorite photos out there... would like to return again some day with some good lenses.

Dang, all this talk about Yosemite makes me want to go back.

If i were to make the effort to go all the way over there, I would try to venture further east towards mono lake and NV, lots of awesome roads there.

Mono Lake is awesome and I agree the views up there are awesome....some great driving up there.

Once you get that far up the amount of people around is considerably less.

I've wanted to do a 3 day weekend trip of going 120 up to 6 into Tonopah, then drop down 95 to Vegas...party in Vegas for night...head back up 95 into 190...stop at Death Valley National Park..then hop back on 395 back up to 120..then go home.

That's exactly why I just want to party for the night then leave.

I hate Vegas actually also..
but unless there is a better place to stay with a hotel as I'd have FRS with me...then Vegas it'd be plus cheap hookers and blow

I don't camp at "campgrounds" so that's outta the question.
And I don't think my FRS would trek through BLM land or the NF too well
