Was thinking of other mods I could do with limited funds. Went with Plastidip as a primer since I wanted an option if I didn't like how it turns out. Thank you @OmarGC for the inspiration!

Time spent: 5.5 hrs from jack-up to mounting, including cure time
Total cost: ~$40 (2 cans of plastidip, 2 cans of Rustoleum Metalic Gold), masking tape and news paper I already had. Wife eye rolling not included .

How do you think that would hold up during the winter?

Very awesome and clever thinking! I bought black plasti dip and gold metalizer trying to get something similar to OP but f*cked it up a bit with the gold metalizer. Your solution is PERFECT!

That is actually unbelievable. Did you use Black plasti dip as the primer?

I actually did a test plate with the bronze, like what the OP used, but was not that crazy about it. Almost settled with gold with a hint (1 coat) or bronze, but then got lazy and just went F it and just went with just gold. Pretty pleased with how it came out.

Not sure, that's the plus living in cali but I personally wouldn't recommend it if you have snow. The downside of using plastidip is that it is soft. I actually dinged a few spot while trying to put it back on. Could be because it was not completely cured though... not really sure.

Yeah, I started out trying the gold metalizer but didn't really like it. I've tried several other paints but settled on rustoleum since it peeled the best while getting the look I wanted. I'd be careful with other paints, some I've tried made the plastidip really brittle, making it break apart and hard to peel off.

Yes, its nice too since the black contrast gives you a really good idea of your coverage and what spots you need to hit some more/less.
