Lol. It’s like trying to snap a pic of the Loch Ness monster I tell you. Let me try this again with the aid of a light. First pic is the general location and second pic is the actual item. Situated above the exhaust. Just curious what it is and if it looks normal.

Yes that whole thing should be remove and a manual transmission installed.

Transmission control shaft lever. When you move your shifter, the linkage moves that lever to actually put the transmission in gear.

Looks a bit like a grenade fuse, and the spoon is gone. I'd leave it alone.

ETA: Clean your engine bay.
