Toyota GT86 Nurburgring Lap Time

Time: 9:09 - Partially Damp Track

They reckon with BS Potenza S001 on a good day they would set a time of 8:50

10+ years old VW Lupo with 123hp has the same ring time at 9:09. Even at 8:50, it's still 22 second slower than an automatic Hyundai Genesis 3.8. Am I missing something? What's there to brag or be happy about?

I don't really care about bragging rights. I just want a car that is well balanced and makes me happy when I drive it. I've owned and driven all sorts of neat cars, so I don't feel like I have to prove anything to anybody.

That's exactly my point. As the ft86 is solely designed as a "feel good" car. Lap time is meaningless. Just don't understand what's the article or the OP trying to say the car did 9:09, and on a good day it could do 8:50.

Wet laps are so frustrating. They come up on top gear far too often as well.

Sad part is the 3.8Track GC had a overheating automatic that became less productive after halfway through the ring. The manual would've been a different story.

Ring suits power and there are relatively few slower curves.

Agreed. Any track that favors power the FRS/BRZ won't produce good times. I think at ViR it will also not produce the best results either as the slowest car in LL is a MX-5.

But I think for an average driver the 86 would be a great car to do a Ring lap in.

Light, planted and manageable power.

Have to say; on a tight, short circuit, I think the 86 would be pretty handy.

I've driven a Scirocco Cup on the Nurburgring. It was intense. It could be dry in one area, and slippery wet in another. The insurance deductable on the car was about $14k US, so you could imagine how I felt when sliding the car around turns in the wet.
