Well I'm pretty sure there are slight differences in spring rates. I was curious to see if he would say, "The BRZ is a bit harder to drift" or something.

Yep, the spring rates are slightly different.
I still think he nailed the comparison as I drove both and preferred the Subaru spring rates, but still bought the Toyota. |

A year ago, I predicted 1:31-1:32:
But I was accurate only because they didn't test on a dry track... 1:31.3 in the wet is way faster than I expected. With standing water in many of the corners, I'd expect it to be classified as either "moist" or "wet", which translates to a time deduction or 3 or 4 seconds according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gea...ime_deductions. It's hard to say since those approximations vary by type of car, but ~1:28 seems possible in the dry. And for drivers that race competitively, it's already been shown that a tire upgrade will make a significant difference (personally, I like the stock tires for street use, but on the track I'd probably get slicks or Super Sports). Anyway, a great review of a great car. EDIT: I re-watched it and I'm wondering if that time was from another lap (when the track was a bit dryer). This car really shouldn't be faster than ~1:31 (maybe a little, but I don't see it dropping down to 1:28.x or 1:29.x). I wouldn't put it past Top Gear to show video from one lap while listing a time from another.

I gotta wait till tomorrow to watch the full episode but I watched the posted clip and gotta say, that was great! Looked like clarkson absolutely loved the car.
Seemed like The Stig did too... he was really putting that car through its paces during that lap. I'd be keen on seeing that lap redone in the dry with ultra high pro/max pro summer tires. Something that could be easily available as an OEM summer tire from a higher end sports car.

Of course, the video is now taken down by the BBC, but I got to see it before it went down! Can't wait to see it on the big screen tonight. |

Enjoyed watching the Stig fling the GT86 around the wet test track. Looks like a lot of fun!

I'm a little surprised the gt86 is faster than the M3.
