Yes, during the first week of ownership. Then you get used to it.

I'm sure if you punch the BRZ/FRS in 2nd gear at around 4-5k you'll feel something, maybe a light breeze? Kidding...

I do this in my Civic and I get pushed back a little.

My Mini Cooper S Auto also pushes you back a bit from a stop, but both are no match to cars like the AMG SLK, C5 Vette, or Camaro SS that I've driven.

So maybe the most conservative 0-60 time for a BRZ is 7.3 secs, the upcoming review consensus number might be 6.8 secs, and.... Car and Driver might post a 6.5 sec time. time will tell...
That's what I was saying in my previous post. My current car(RSX-S) had testing numbers as high as 7.2 and as low as 5.9(UK magazine) for the 0-60 romp.

Over the last 20+ years of reading Car & Driver I have noticed they more often than not post the best times, but not always. Edmunds and Consumer Reports usually seem to be the slowest.

Go-kart-theory: You FEEL like your going fast but you're not even coming close to 60mph.
One explanation for the fact that a low-slung car like the Miata feels subjectively faster than it "really" is stems from the physics of perception: Your eye is much lower to the ground and consequently your visual field as you look at the road ahead or to the side appears to be moving more quickly. You get the same effect at a more exaggerated level when you see video from low fender-mounted cameras.

The same highway speed in my 1st-gen Tib (51" high, same as FR-S) feels much faster than in a family member's Corolla XRS I occasionally drive (58" high).

Another subjective factor influencing speed perception is sound. A Miata will be letting far more road, tire, and engine noise in the cabin than a 335i - again, creating a perception of more speed.

A really good analogy is doing 40 kts/hr in a Bayliner and 40 kts/hr on a Waverunner.

Exactly. 70 MPH feels much faster in my Chevy Astro than it does in my Mustang. Why, because the Astro has almost 300K miles on it and you definitely feel the road under your wheels and hear the noise. I feel like I'm standing still in the Mustang at that speed, even with the top down.

By the way, the Astro will "throw you back in your seat" if you floor it from a stop or in first gear. Of course, that could just be transmission lag...

Exactly what I don't want in the BRZ - the boredom would make me drive way too fast.

I just don't see that happening based on reviews, and seeing the car in person. Just the low seat position addresses a lot of that. Like was said above, think "go cart".

These cars probably aren't for everyone, but then again neither is a Prius, or a Ferrari, or a GC, or a Caymen, or a....

I always felt it when driving a really high performance car that it begs you drive faster, than a slower car that will keep generally almost anyone to drive it moderately.

Totally agree, I was in no way suggesting that the FR-S would be like that, just that fast and boring was not what I was looking for.

That link def doesn't work. And there is already a GT86 TG review. It's old as heck.
